    THE ROLE

    The Associate Manager of Volunteers will work closely with the Manager of Volunteers to ensure the community volunteer program, consisting of 350 weekly volunteers, is well managed. The Associate Manager will support the entire volunteer life cycle which includes recruitment, training, clearing, and retention. There are currently four volunteer opportunities that the Associate Manager will support: Tutoring & Classroom Support, Mindfulness in partnership with Mindful Arts SF, community mentoring through SFUSD’s Mentoring for Success program, and our One-Day volunteers who assist schools on a short-term basis. The role will work closely with SF Unified School District (SFUSD) teachers by filling their requests for trained community volunteers, and ensuring support is offered throughout the year. An emphasis will be placed on building relationships with SF Ed Fund Priority Schools.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Support the Success of our Community Volunteer Programs:

    • Volunteer Recruitment
      • In partnership with the Volunteers team, recruit ~350 ongoing volunteers each school year who will serve as tutors, mentors, and Mindfulness instructors
      • Create and distribute recruitment collateral and messaging across multiple channels
      • Research and solicit new partnerships with relevant organizations to ensure a consistent pipeline of volunteers
      • Attend various recruitment events to represent the program
    • Volunteer Trainings and Clearance
      • Co-facilitate and plan for up to six virtual volunteer trainings a year after traditional work hours
      • Plan and host six evening clearance sessions (fingerprinting and TB risk assessment) at the office to clear volunteers
      • Identify topics of interest and relevance to further develop volunteers’ skills and increase their efficacy in the form of supplemental trainings
      • Gather feedback on training topics and content to continuously improve material and delivery
    • Volunteer Support and Retention
      • Organize monthly site visits with volunteers at priority schools to ensure volunteers are having a positive experience
      • Conduct volunteer check in calls a few times of a year to build relationships and understand the volunteer experience
      • Co-plan multiple events to meet new volunteers and appreciate returning volunteers
    • School/Teacher Relationships
      • Conduct site visits and check-in calls at priority schools to more effectively place volunteers and support teachers
      • Identify key contacts at priority schools to provide support and guidance to volunteers
      • Join priority school staff meetings to encourage teachers to request volunteers aligned with their interests and needs
    • Volunteer Communications
      • Write a monthly volunteer newsletter to share updates and resources
      • Collect volunteer stories for the newsletter to aid in ongoing volunteer recruitment
    • Salesforce Data Entry
      • Maintain a deep understanding of our volunteer pipeline within Salesforce which includes automations, email templates, reports, campaigns, and placements
      • Enter timely data into the Salesforce database
      • Monitor and maintain the volunteer clearance pipeline to identify bottlenecks and accelerate placements
      • Create and update email templates within Salesforce
      • Consistently recommend new automations in order to increase efficiencies

    Other Duties as Assigned

    • Non-essential job duties and/or non-related tasks may be assigned from time to time. The San Francisco Education Fund is a small non-profit agency requiring flexibility from its staff.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years equivalent work experience in project management, school-based work, volunteer coordination, nonprofit/NGO practice, or a combination
    • Demonstrated commitment to educational equity and improving public education through community involvement
    • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills
    • Service-oriented mentality with student-centered-approach; Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and responding to emerging needs
    • Strong project management skills including the ability to handle multiple deadlines and competing priorities with demonstrated results
    • Ability to build strong partnerships with multiple stakeholder audiences, including volunteers, principals, teachers and external partners
    • Strong document management, quality control, and organizational skills
    • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities with demonstrated results
    • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; a driving force who works toward clarity and solutions
    • Knowledge Google Suite; Asana
    • Ability to travel to SFUSD school sites regularly
    • Must pass criminal background check upon receiving an offer

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Salesforce CRM
    • Prior work in education, foundations, social impact or nonprofits
    • Bi-lingual skills in English and Spanish and/or Cantonese
    • Experience building Social Media content and Social Media ads

    COMPENSATION

    The Associate Manager of Volunteers is an exempt position. The starting annual salary range for this position is $73,000 - $90,000 based on years of experience in a similar role. The SF Ed Fund is deeply committed to equity and fairness and therefore salary offers are based on set criteria and are determined in conjunction with an internal equity pay assessment. This means that our salary offers are non-negotiable.
