    Benefits

    • POSITION TITLE & RELATIONSHIP

The Contractor shall serve as the Lead Remote Development Officer for Sustainers Love Charitable Ministries. The Contractor operates strictly as an independent consultant and is responsible for their own local taxes and insurance.

    • PRIMARY GOALS & CORE OBJECTIVES

The main objective of this role is to build an international funding pipeline, secure diverse revenue streams (grants and individual donors), and elevate the organization's global profile to fund projects based in Uganda.

    DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES

The Contractor shall execute the following duties:

    • Prospect Research: Identify, vet, and maintain a running pipeline of at least 20 prospective international institutional foundations and corporate sponsors per quarter whose funding criteria align with Ugandan development.
    • Grant Writing: Write, polish, and submit a minimum of 13 high-quality grant proposals or letters of intent (LOIs) per month to international donors.
    • Individual Giving & Campaigns: Design, launch, and manage at least two digital crowdfunding or email fundraising campaigns annually targeting international retail donors.
    • Stewardship & Reporting: Create monthly or quarterly impact update templates to send to existing donors, ensuring transparency on how funds are utilized on the ground in Uganda.
    • Database Management: Maintain precise, up-to-date tracking of all donor communications, gift records, and application deadlines within the organization’s designated CRM platform.
    • DELIVERABLES & KEY TIMELINES
    • End of Month 1: Submission of a 6-month Fundraising Strategy Plan and an established donor pipeline tracking sheet.
    • Monthly: A brief written progress report detailing grants submitted, responses received, and donor meetings held, to be submitted alongside the monthly invoice.
    • COMPENSATION BOUNDARIES

In strict adherence to international philanthropic ethics (including AFP standards), the Contractor shall be compensated via a fixed monthly retainer of $100 to $800. Under no circumstances shall compensation be tied to a percentage or commission of funds raised.

    Level of Language Proficiency

Beyond spoken languages, a successful fundraiser must possess what industry experts call "linguistic flexibility" the ability to speak different conceptual languages depending on the donor's background.

The Language of Business: Used when pitching to corporate sponsors or tech entrepreneurs who want to hear about ROI (Return on Investment), scalability, and "social capital".

The Language of Data: Used for major foundations and institutional grant makers who prioritize strict metrics, scientific outcomes, and financial spreadsheets.

The Language of Emotion & Storytelling: Used for individual retail donors to vividly communicate the charity's mission, values, and human impact.

English: The global standard for writing international grant proposals and communicating with institutional donors, corporate boards, and large foundations.

French: Highly essential for international development roles, particularly when fundraising for or working in West and Central Africa, France, or multilateral organizations like the United Nations.

Spanish: Critical for community-based fundraising in the United States due to a rapidly growing diverse donor base, as well as for regional non-profits operating throughout Latin America.
