    Description

Glendale Baptist Church—a progressive, justice-seeking congregation—is seeking a highly organized Administrative & Communications Coordinator for a 20-hour-per-week position helping manage the recurring systems that keep congregational life moving.

This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys organizing information, working with digital tools, managing deadlines, and making sure important details are handled accurately and on time. Previous church experience or religious affiliation is not required.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Office Administration & Records
      • Serve as a welcoming and responsive first point of contact for members, visitors, vendors, and community partners.
      • Manage routine office needs, including church email, phone, mail, supplies, records, and scheduling
      • Maintain the church calendar and coordinate scheduling for building use, meetings, and recurring deadlines
      • Keep member, household, giving, and other church records organized and current, including preparing and distributing annual giving statements
      • Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems.
    • Communications
      • Format, proofread, and send the weekly newsletter using content provided by lay-leadership and staff
      • Prepare, print, and publish weekly liturgical materials and other church documents, including ballots and materials for business meetings and special services
      • Upload weekly liturgy video and audio recordings to the appropriate social media platforms
      • Schedule prepared social media content
      • Make routine website updates
    • Coordination
      • Coordinate with volunteers, vendors, contractors, and church leaders around scheduling, building use, maintenance, service appointments, and other administrative details

This is primarily an execution and coordination role. You will not be expected to write the newsletter, create social media content, design graphics, produce elaborate videos, handle bookkeeping, or perform building repairs. Instead, your role is to help coordinate the systems, information, and people who make those things happen.

    What We’re Looking For

    • Strong organization and attention to detail
    • Excellent proofreading and written communication skills
    • Comfort learning and using digital platforms such as Google Drive, Mailchimp, Zoom, membership-management systems, and website content-management systems
    • Ability to manage several recurring workflows with limited supervision
    • Dependability with deadlines and follow-through
    • Sound judgment when handling confidential information
    • Warm, clear, and professional communication
    • Reliable transportation
    • Ability to successfully complete a background check

Experience in administration, communications, nonprofit work, higher education, publishing, project coordination, office management, or a similar field may translate well to this position, but is not required.

    Other Details

This is a 20-hour-per-week position with flexibility in how hours are scheduled. Some work may be completed remotely, with regular on-site availability required for office responsibilities, weekly publication workflows, and a weekly staff meeting. The position involves prolonged periods of computer work and sitting at a desk. The position is based at Glendale Baptist Church, 4410 Scenic Drive, Nashville, Tennessee.
