The Community Health Worker Coalition for Migrants and Refugees (CHWCMR) is a Washington State nonprofit dedicated to advancing health equity and improving outcomes for migrant, refugee, and other underserved communities through culturally responsive, community-driven programs and services.

    We are seeking a skilled and compassionate WIC Certifier & Administrative Coordinator to work closely with low-income families, particularly migrant and refugee populations. This is a hybrid role that combines direct client services with administrative and coordination responsibilities. Strong computer skills, organization, and administrative efficiency are critical.

    Position Overview

    In this role, you will assess and certify WIC participants while supporting the daily operations of the WIC agency. You will work with pregnant and postpartum individuals, infants, and children from diverse cultural backgrounds, providing nutrition services, education, and coordinated care. This role is a hybrid role; office work is done in a work from home setting and the WIC certifications are completed in clients’ homes or identified community centers/locations.

    Key Responsibilities

    WIC Certification & Client Services

    • Determine eligibility for WIC services by assessing income, nutritional risk, and health information
    • Perform height, weight, and iron measurements and document results
    • Complete nutrition assessments and provide individualized nutrition education
    • Provide breastfeeding education and support
    • Assign appropriate food packages and explain food benefits and shopping procedures
    • Refer clients to healthcare providers and community resources
    • Enroll eligible participants and maintain follow-up care plans
    • Provide culturally responsive communication and support to diverse populations

    Administrative & Coordination Duties

    • Maintain accurate electronic health records and paper documentation
    • Enter client data into WIC systems (CIMS/Cascades) and ensure accuracy
    • Schedule appointments, send reminders, and follow up on missed visits
    • Answer phones, greet clients, and manage client communications
    • Maintain organized filing systems and ensure HIPAA compliance
    • Order and manage inventory of WIC supplies and educational materials
    • Print and send appointment reminders and missed appointment notices
    • Assist with outreach activities, health fairs, and community engagement
    • Coordinate programs such as car seat safety or education initiatives
    • Support reporting requirements, time studies, and documentation tracking

    Required Qualifications & Skills

    • High School Diploma or GED (required)
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
    • Experience working with low-income families, migrant and refugee populations (required)
    • Strong organizational, administrative, and computer skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data entry systems
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills
    • Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work both independently and as part of a team
    • Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality practices preferred
    • WIC or healthcare experience preferred

    Work Environment

    • Hybrid work from home and site visit setting with a mix of direct service and administrative work
    • Significant time spent working on computers and documentation
    • Requires standing, sitting, and interacting with clients throughout the day
    • Occasional outreach events, evenings, or weekends may be required

    Level of Language Proficiency

    Spanish-English fluency required
