    Description

    United States of Care (USofCare) is a non-partisan non-profit organization on a mission to ensure that everyone has access to quality, affordable health care regardless of health status, social need, or income. We champion fair and commonsense policy changes to meet people’s urgent needs: the certainty that their health care will be affordable, that their coverage will be dependable and there when they need it, that their health care is personalized, and that the system is easy to understand and navigate.

    In order to achieve our people-centered mission, USofCare has developed highly intentional organizational values and we are committed to building a diverse team at all levels of our organization, cultivating an inclusive culture, and engaging with people who bring different perspectives and lived experiences to our efforts. Our values are how we work internally and externally, what we hold up and celebrate, and what we are constantly striving for and aspiring to be as an organization. Position Overview and Responsibilities

    United States of Care is seeking a Digital Communications Manager to join our team of passionate, adaptable, accountable, innovative problem-solvers dedicated to making our health care system better for all people.

    This role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Communications, the Digital Communications Manager owns USofCare’s digital presence across the website, social media, and email channels and plays an active role in shaping digital strategy to amplify the organization’s public opinion research, policy work, and advocacy efforts. If you’re someone who can turn a complex policy report into a compelling LinkedIn post, keep a complex website rebuild on schedule, and still have bandwidth to troubleshoot a Mailchimp formatting issue before it goes out the door, this role was made for you.

    On a given week, you might be drafting the biweekly external newsletter, coordinating with our designer on social assets for a new research release, publishing landing page content for an advocacy campaign, and pulling a Google Analytics report to see what’s actually moving the needle. You’ll manage USofCare’s presence on LinkedIn, X, and Bluesky, creating platform-specific content and building out social toolkits for major research, advocacy, and campaign initiatives, and on an ad hoc basis, you’ll draft thought leadership content for the CEO’s LinkedIn that translates organizational perspective into timely, accessible posts.

    The website side of this role is substantive. You’ll manage USofCare’s primary site and digital microsites in WordPress and Ceros, maintain site architecture and content discoverability, apply SEO best practices (including for AI-driven search), and make light HTML and CSS updates as needed. When the organization undertakes a website rebuild, you’ll project manage that process with an external agency, coordinating timelines, internal reviews, and deliverables to keep milestones on track.

    You’ll also project manage paid digital campaign workstreams and Google Ad Grant initiatives in collaboration with external agency partners, and you’ll bring your own recommendations for how USofCare can use paid digital more strategically to reach key audiences and advance advocacy goals. The Communications team is small and collaborative, and this role carries real ownership, you’ll work independently while staying tightly connected to the team’s broader priorities.

    This role provides light administrative support to the Communications team including scheduling meetings, note-taking, expense tracking, and managing subscriptions and platform access.

    Qualifications

    To be successful in this role, you must have a strong commitment to ensuring everyone has access to quality, affordable health care, and have a dedication to operating in a diverse, bipartisan, learning atmosphere that explores multiple policy solutions to achieve our mission. You are willing to respect different points of view, and are committed to applying an equity lens and prioritizing diversity, equity, and inclusion principles in all of your work.

    The ideal candidate is a strong writer, a sharp digital strategist, and an organized project manager who can hold multiple workstreams at once without letting things slip. You’re comfortable with ambiguity, energized by a fast-paced environment, and skilled at translating complex ideas into clear, compelling content for a range of audiences.

    Successful candidates will bring:

    • Four or more years of experience in digital communications, including managing websites, social media, and email marketing for a nonprofit, advocacy, policy, or other mission-driven organization;
    • Hands-on proficiency with WordPress, Google Analytics, Mailchimp, and SEO best practices, plus working knowledge of HTML and CSS; experience with Ceros, Google Ad Grants, or paid digital campaigns is a plus;
    • Demonstrated success managing organizational social media accounts, creating platform-specific content, building audience engagement, and using analytics to refine strategy, with familiarity across LinkedIn, X, and Bluesky, and experience writing in an executive’s voice for thought leadership content;
    • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex policy topics into clear, engaging content across platforms and audiences;
    • Proven project management skills, including coordinating with external agencies, designers, and internal stakeholders to keep multiple workstreams on schedule.
