    Description

    Hope for New Haven imagines communities transformed by a broad cross section of people who are guided by the shared values and principled examples of Christ’s life. As such, Hope delivers programming through our Child Development Center that emphasizes reconciliation and prevention by bringing the gospel of Jesus Christ to program participants and investing in infants, children and youth so as to give them a sound foundation upon which to build.

    We are seeking Infant and Toddler Lead Teachers to plan, organize, and implement our Christian-based education services for children. These services contribute to the increased social competence in children and the recognition and enhancement of parents as the primary educators of their children. Teachers must be knowledgeable in classroom organization and management, instructional planning, delivery of effective instruction, and differentiation to ensure that learning experiences are intentional and developmentally appropriate.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    • BA degree in early childhood education or child development; and
    • Have knowledge and experience in the philosophy and practices of early childhood education, developmentally appropriate practice, NAEYC Standards, OEC regulations and bilingual education;
    • Proof of a physical examination within the last six months, which includes a covid vaccine, tuberculosis test, and comply with other background checks as required by the Agency and/or OEC licensing;

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    • Understands and implements best practice in guiding and facilitating activities of the children, including: daily activities, field trips, selecting and arranging equipment and materials in the classroom;
    • Understands and implements best practice in maintaining a safe and healthy classroom environment. Assure that classroom equipment, furniture, materials, and supplies are properly maintained and stored;
    • Understands and implements best practice in planning and implementing learning experiences aligned to the ELDS that promote all developmental areas, including improving the readiness of children for school by developing their cognitive and social and emotional competence;
    • Understands and implements best practice in maintaining a comprehensive and ongoing portfolio assessment for each child, including observations in each area, examples of the child's work, and developmental assessment;
    • Supervise CERCLE training classroom practices - room arrangement, lesson plans, daily schedules, routines, and transitions to assure their adherence to program policies;
    • Make decisions and acts based on family support principles, theories, practices, and code of ethics;
    • Assure that files and documentation are complete, accurate, and confidentially maintained; and,
    • Perform other duties, as may be required.
