    About Sacred Spaces

Sacred Spaces partners with Jewish institutions to prevent and respond to sexual abuse and other abuses of power. Bringing a uniquely Jewish lens, Sacred Spaces is a national non-profit dedicated to ending institutional abuse through a systemic approach across the lifespan and denominations. Sacred Spaces empowers institutions with the tools they need to prevent and respond to abuse through education and a host of consulting services such as policy guidance, assessment and coaching.

As an organization, we are committed to creating sacred spaces in our internal operations, fostering a workplace environment that models transparency and accountability with clear goal-setting, and a culture of gratitude and improvement. We recognize that our work is possible because of the contributions of our incredible team and so we invest in their professional development, providing opportunities for on-the-ground learning and mentorship. More information on our guiding principles can be found at JewishSacredSpaces.org.

    Overview

The Program Director (Sacred Aging) will lead Sacred Spaces’ initiatives to prevent and respond to elder abuse and promote safety, dignity, and autonomy for older adults. This Director brings a deep subject-matter understanding of aging and elder abuse, providing both program leadership and hands-on program delivery and coordination. This role is responsible for developing and overseeing programs, educational resources, and partnerships that strengthen the capacity of Jewish institutions and communities to prevent and respond to elder abuse, while situating Seivah: Sacred Aging as an integrated part of Sacred Spaces’ work across the lifespan.

    Key Responsibilities

    Program Leadership and Implementation

    • Design, manage, and deliver Sacred Aging initiatives, including, but not limited to, professional cohorts, train-the-trainer programs, and the Seivah Advisory Council.
    • Develop practical, accessible tools, curricula, and resources that support Jewish institutions in preventing and responding to elder abuse, as well as tailored materials for older adults, caregivers and family members, and relevant professionals.
    • Provide institutions guidance through trainings, policy development, consultation, and capacity-building strategies that strengthen prevention and response systems.
    • Apply subject-matter expertise in elder abuse — including power and control dynamics, financial exploitation, neglect, emotional abuse, cognitive changes, and other capacity considerations — to shape prevention and response guidance.

    Strategy and Field-Building

    • Lead community-based exploration of the feasibility of a coordinated Jewish communal response to elder abuse, including convening stakeholders and identifying gaps, opportunities, and models for collaboration.
    • Build and maintain relationships with communal partners across aging, caregiving, safeguarding, and elder justice sectors to support program implementation and collaborative learning.
    • Represent Sacred Spaces in national conversations, networks, and learning spaces focused on aging, elder justice, and abuse prevention, helping to position Sacred Aging within the broader field.

    Coordination and Grant Management

    • Manage program logistics, timelines, and participant coordination for cohorts, trainings, and advisory convenings.
    • Oversee and manage any external consultants that support Sacred Aging initiatives.
    • Track program outcomes and assess effectiveness to inform continuous improvement.
    • Oversee grant-related tracking and reporting, including collecting data, synthesizing outcomes, ensuring grant compliance, and contributing to narrative and financial reports.

    Integration Across the Lifespan

    • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure coherence, connection, and alignment between Sacred Aging and other Sacred Spaces programs and services.
    • As needed, partner with Sacred Spaces’ program team to design and deliver additional client services, including trainings, case consultation, assessments, policy development, etc. that address abuse prevention across the lifespan

    Position Structure

Sacred Spaces is open to dividing the scope of this role into two complementary part-time roles, one focused primarily on program leadership and content expertise, and one focused on program coordination and grant management. This position is supported by grant funding and is contingent upon continued funding availability.

    Benefits

A competitive compensation and benefits package includes: Salary range of $100,000-$120,000 FTE, commensurate with experience; 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision; 401K retirement plan with employer match, paid parental leave, sabbatical available to employees at all levels of the organization, unlimited paid time off, including Jewish and major national holidays; and a professional development and home office stipend. Sacred Spaces operates on a Core Hours system with flexibility outside of these core hours for a total of 40 hours per work week.

    How to Apply

    Application Process

Please send an email with the subject “Director, Sacred Aging” including resume, cover letter, and a writing sample created in the past five years to Jobs@JewishSacredSpaces.org and submit a brief video introduction. We use the term writing sample broadly to refer to something you have already written and are not creating specifically for this application. We are most interested in examples of written policies, training materials in the area of focus, assessment reports or policy briefs for which you were the sole or lead drafter; if you have something different that you want us to see, feel free to submit. If you’re uncertain about what to submit, you may reach out and ask. The cover letter should include descriptions of positions with relevant experience and demonstration of successful expertise in the core demands of the position.

The application process will have an additional 3 rounds of review:

      • Round 1: Select candidates will be invited to a video interview with Sacred Spaces’ team member(s).
      • Round 2: Select candidates will be invited to complete a job-based skills assignment. Candidates who complete this assignment will receive a $200 honorarium in recognition of their work.
      • Round 3: Following our review of these written assignments, a select number of candidates will be invited for a final-round interview. Finalists provide names and contact information for reference checks and resume verification. After a candidate receives a conditional offer, they are invited to interview any Sacred Spaces staff or a board member before accepting the position, and background checks are conducted as a final step.

As part of Sacred Spaces’ commitment to equity, interview questions are standardized, with some custom questions for candidates who progress through the application process and written assignments are deidentified. Applicants are scored using a common rubric based on the job description. Sacred Spaces endeavors to communicate clearly with candidates at each stage of the process. If at any point you have a question about the application process or the status of your application, please feel welcome to email Jobs@JewishSacredSpaces.org.
