    Black Women for Wellness (BWW) is seeking an energetic, community-centered, and passionate Community Health Outreach Worker (CHOW), Civic Engagement to help strengthen civic participation and voter engagement throughout San Joaquin County.

    Our Civic Engagement Program works to increase the electoral and political power of Black women through year-round voter education, voter registration, community outreach, and Get Out the Vote (GOTV) efforts.     What You'll Do

    As the Community Health Outreach Worker (CHOW), you'll serve as a trusted ambassador for Black Women for Wellness by building relationships, educating community members about civic participation, and supporting voter engagement efforts throughout San Joaquin County.

    Key responsibilities include:

      • Represent Black Women for Wellness at community events, outreach activities, coalition meetings, and educational workshops.
      • Build relationships with residents, community organizations, faith-based institutions, and local leaders.
      • Conduct community outreach to promote voter education, voter registration, civic engagement opportunities, and BWW programs.
      • Support Get Out the Vote (GOTV) campaigns through canvassing, phone banking, volunteer engagement, and community mobilization.
      • Coordinate and participate in community events, meetings, and outreach activities.
      • Utilize digital organizing tools and social media to expand community engagement.
      • Collect outreach data, maintain accurate records, and submit activity reports.
      • Serve as a positive and professional representative of Black Women for Wellness in the community.

    What You’ll Bring

      • At least two (2) years of experience in community outreach, organizing, civic engagement, advocacy, health education, canvassing, or nonprofit programming.
      • Experience with voter engagement, civic education, or political organizing is preferred.
      • A passion for working alongside diverse communities of color and historically underserved populations.
      • Strong communication, relationship-building, and public engagement skills.
      • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
      • Experience using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, social media, and basic data entry systems.
      • A valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel throughout San Joaquin County.
      • A bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
      • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support community outreach and civic engagement activities.
