Youth Enrichment Services Inc. (YES) is a $2M non-profit corporation headquartered in Boston whose mission is to inspire youth through outdoor experiences and leadership opportunities that build confidence and prepare them to summit life’s challenges. Founded in 1968, YES provides opportunities to develop self-confidence and leadership skills through participation in outdoor activities. Over 1,500 youth ages 6-18, participate in our core year-round programs Operation Snowsports, Outdoor Adventure, and YES Academy, which are largely supported by 200+ volunteers. Position Overview
The Family Engagement Coordinator is responsible for targeted outreach and relationship-building with youth and families. This community-facing role oversees enrollment for YES Kids programming, as well as providing supportive follow-up to caregivers. The Family Engagement Coordinator regularly communicates with YES Kids parents & caregivers, program partners, and other stakeholders.
This position is supervised by the Assistant Director of Programs & Operations. This position is full-time and in-person in Jamaica Plain.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist families in registration and enrollment process and perform follow-up on applications and program participation
- Deliver clear, culturally responsive information regarding programs, eligibility, and benefits
- Implement outreach & recruitment plans for programming and attend community events
- Plan and host program information sessions, orientations, and focus groups
- Provide direct support to Outdoor Adventure, Operation Snowsports, and teen programs as scheduled
- Support planning, organization, and preparation of program materials
- Maintain regular communication with families through newsletters, emails, and in-person updates
- Organize community-building events such as open houses, family days, and end-of-season celebrations
- Identify and build relationships with local organizations, schools and agencies to expand resources and support for families
- Create and maintain a community directory for resources and referrals to support family needs
- Prepare programmatic recommendations based on parent and stakeholder feedback via surveys, interviews, and other tools
- Create rosters, attendance tracking, emergency contact lists, and other administrative items
- Facilitate communication across caregivers, volunteers, staff and youth to support participant success
- Record and monitor program attendance to manage waitlist movement
- Use data to track family participation and monitor engagement activities, attendance, and participation to ensure program goals are met
Desired Qualifications
Ideal candidates should have prior experience in community engagement, education, or youth development. Experience with outdoor activities such as Snowsports, track & field, biking, etc. are desirable. Other requirements include:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional direct service experience
- Previous experience or willingness to learn YES adventure activities which include Snowsports, rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, biking, and track & field
- Demonstrated experience in community outreach and knowledge of Boston’s neighborhoods.
- Driver’s License is required with the ability to drive a 12-passenger van
- On site full-time, flexible schedule that will include frequent evenings, weekends and overnights
- Proficiency on Microsoft Office, email and internet is required
- CPR/First Aid certified (or able to obtain certification within 45 days of hire date)
- CORI/SORI Background check will be administered
