    Description

    Executive Director

Camp Swatara is seeking a mission-driven leader to serve as its next Executive Director — a unique, residential calling at the intersection of ministry, leadership, and community.

Nestled on 700+ acres at the base of Blue Mountain, Camp Swatara is a vibrant, faith-based nonprofit serving campers, retreat groups, and families year-round. Rooted in the Church of the Brethren tradition, the camp exists to help people grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and live lives of discipleship.

    The Opportunity

This role is not just a job — it is a deeply relational, all-in leadership calling. The Executive Director serves as the primary steward of Camp Swatara’s mission, overseeing ministry, staff, operations, finances, and development, while living on-site as part of the camp community.

On any given day, you may be:

    • Casting vision with the board
    • Mentoring staff and volunteers
    • Engaging donors and partner churches
    • Overseeing operations across camp, retreat, and campground programs
    • Welcoming guests and fostering a culture of hospitality

    Who You Are

    • A committed Christian aligned with Anabaptist values
    • A relational leader who builds trust across diverse communities
    • Comfortable managing complexity across people, programs, and resources
    • Experienced (formally or informally) in leadership, finance, fundraising, and team development
    • Drawn to a lifestyle where ministry and daily life are deeply intertwined

    Why Camp Swatara

    • Established, trusted ministry since 1943
    • Diverse, year-round programming with strong community support
    • Opportunity to shape the future of a multi-faceted organization
    • A role that blends spiritual leadership, strategy, and hands-on impact
