    Description

    Beagle Freedom Project (bfp.org) is a leading animal rescue and advocacy organization working to end animal testing and exploitation worldwide. Through rescue, rehabilitation, legislative advocacy, public education, and direct-action campaigns, we are creating systemic change for animals used in laboratories and other forms of exploitation.

    We are seeking a passionate, organized, and strategic Campaigns, Programs & Advocacy Associate to help advance our mission through impactful advocacy campaigns, grassroots organizing, and legislative initiatives.

    Position Summary

    The Campaigns, Programs & Advocacy Associate supports Beagle Freedom Project’s mission to end animal testing through outreach, education, legislation, and direct action. This role is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing advocacy and legislative campaigns at the national, state, and local levels.

    Working closely with leadership and cross-functional teams, this position helps develop impactful campaigns, track performance metrics, and drive measurable progress toward policy and cultural change. The ideal candidate is highly organized, an excellent communicator, self-motivated, and passionate about animal advocacy and social impact work.

    This is a fully remote position requiring strong self-management, strategic thinking, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced advocacy environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Campaign Strategy & Advocacy

      • Research campaign targets, including background information, evidence, and strategic pressure tactics
      • Develop campaign strategies, goals, timelines, and measurable outcomes
      • Implement and manage advocacy campaigns from launch through completion
      • Track campaign performance using analytics, reporting tools, and measurable KPIs
      • Strengthen existing campaigns while identifying opportunities for new advocacy initiatives
      • Coordinate grassroots outreach efforts, volunteer engagement, and supporter actions
      • Organize advocacy events, legislative meetings, hearings, testimony, and public outreach efforts
      • Collaborate with legislative staff and legal counsel to research and draft proposed legislation
      • Maintain legislative calendars and ensure deadlines are met

    Cross-Functional Collaboration

      • Partner with communications, fundraising, and creative teams to develop campaign materials and awareness initiatives
      • Collaborate with social media, graphic design, and video teams to create compelling campaign content
      • Support integrated advocacy and fundraising efforts aligned with organizational priorities
      • Maintain campaign files, databases, and internal reporting systems

    Communications & Public Engagement

      • Write and distribute press releases, campaign updates, blogs, e-blasts, and supporter communications
      • Represent Beagle Freedom Project in media opportunities, public events, and stakeholder meetings as needed
      • Respond to campaign-related inquiries from supporters and the public
      • Share campaign progress, victories, and impact updates internally and externally

    Additional Responsibilities

      • Participate in rescues, outreach activities, fundraising events, and organizational initiatives as needed
      • Perform administrative and database-related work supporting advocacy efforts
      • Support other organizational priorities and projects as assigned

    Remote Work Expectations

      • Availability during core business hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Pacific Time
      • Flexibility for occasional evenings and weekends during legislative sessions, campaigns, rescues, or events
      • Maintain reliable internet access and a professional remote work environment
      • Participate actively in virtual meetings and team collaboration platforms
      • Respond promptly to internal communications and time-sensitive campaign needs
      • Adhere to organizational confidentiality and cybersecurity practices

    Qualifications

      • Minimum of 4 years of experience in advocacy, grassroots organizing, coalition-building, campaign politics, or related work
      • Prior experience in animal advocacy, animal rights, animal law, rescue, or related nonprofit work strongly preferred
      • Strong aptitude for legislative and regulatory processes
      • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
      • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
      • Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams
      • Experience building relationships with legislators, government officials, coalitions, and stakeholders
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, video conferencing platforms, and database systems
      • Ability to quickly learn organization-specific systems and tools
      • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred

    Physical & Environmental Requirements

      • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods
      • Ability to attend occasional meetings, outreach events, rescues, or advocacy activities
      • Ability to travel occasionally as needed (approximately 10%)
