Position Overview
The Communications Manager is responsible for managing the Foundation's communications and digital presence across multiple audiences, programmes, and campaigns. This role goes beyond social media execution by leading creative production, coordinating external creative partners, managing content workflows, and ensuring all communications are delivered on time, on brand, and aligned with organizational priorities.
Working closely with leadership, programme teams, fundraising, and external vendors, the Communications Manager serves as the central point of coordination for communications projects from concept through publication.
Key Responsibilities
Communications Strategy & Campaign Management
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive communications calendar across organizational priorities and UK programmes.
- Coordinate integrated campaigns across social media, fundraising, events, partnerships, and programme initiatives.
- Ensure messaging remains consistent across all Foundation channels and audiences.
- Identify opportunities to amplify organizational milestones, partnerships, campaigns, and mission-driven moments.
Social Media Management
- Oversee content planning and publishing across Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, and other relevant platforms.
- Coordinate campaigns across multiple Foundation and programme social media handles.
- Write engaging captions, source visuals, and recruit and coordinate with graphic/video partners as needed.
- Manage scheduling and publishing using social media management platforms.
- Monitor engagement, respond to inquiries where appropriate, and identify opportunities to increase reach and engagement.
- Maintain brand voice and ensure quality and consistency across all content.
Creative Project Management
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of creative projects from briefing through final delivery.
- Manage relationships with graphic designers, videographers, photographers, editors, and other creative contractors.
- Develop creative briefs and ensure projects remain on schedule and within scope.
- Review creative deliverables and provide clear, actionable, and implementable feedback.
- Gather, consolidate, and prioritize feedback from internal stakeholders into a single, cohesive revision process.
- Maintain organized creative assets and oversee asset management across projects.
Organizational Communications & Website Management
- Lead the development and production of the Foundation's Annual Impact Report.
- Coordinate communications materials supporting fundraising campaigns, grant announcements, partnerships, events, programme launches, and organizational updates.
- Co-manage the Foundation's website with the Director of Operations, ensuring content remains current, accurate, and aligned with organizational priorities.
- Coordinate website updates for programmes, campaigns, impact stories, fundraising initiatives, events, and organizational news.
- Work with external web developers and designers to implement new pages, functionality, and improvements.
- Review and approve website content, imagery, and layouts before publication.
- Monitor website performance and user experience, identifying opportunities to improve engagement and accessibility.
- Support the creation of presentations, newsletters, digital reports, and other marketing and communications collateral as needed.
Engagement & Community Management
- Monitor audience responses, mentions, and direct messages across platforms.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely and appropriate responses.
- Identify opportunities to amplify partner content or mission-aligned news.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with programme, fundraising, operations, and leadership teams to identify communications needs and priorities.
- Ensure timely collection of content, photography, success stories, and programme updates.
- Keep communications projects moving by proactively managing timelines, dependencies, and deliverables.
Analytics & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor platform performance and campaign effectiveness.
- Prepare concise monthly reports highlighting engagement, growth, campaign performance, and recommendations.
- Recommend improvements based on analytics, audience trends, and organizational priorities.
Tools & Platforms
- Asana, HubSpot, Canva Pro, Google Drive, Hootsuite, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Frame.io. Adobe Suite experience a plus!
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in communications, social media, or digital marketing, preferably within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
- Demonstrated experience managing communications projects from planning through execution.
- Experience coordinating and managing external creative vendors, including designers, photographers, videographers, and editors.
- Excellent copywriting and editing skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to provide concise, constructive, and actionable creative feedback.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities.
- Experience developing communications calendars and coordinating cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with Asana, HubSpot, Canva Pro, Google Workspace, Frame.io, and social media management platforms.
- Self-directed, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, remote environment.
- Passion for the Foundation's mission and global impact.
