    Description

    Part-Time Operations & Communications Coordinator

    Jewish Solar Challenge

Remote | Approximately 10–15 hours per week

    About the Jewish Solar Challenge

The Jewish Solar Challenge (JSC) drives the adoption of solar energy at Jewish community institutions by providing direct funding, technical support, and hands-on guidance that turn climate commitments into built projects.

JSC works with synagogues, schools, camps, and other Jewish nonprofit institutions across the country to help overcome the financial, technical, and organizational barriers to solar adoption.

    The Role

We are seeking a highly organized, responsive, and self-directed part-time Operations & Communications Coordinator to support JSC’s day-to-day operations, grantmaking, board administration, communications, and organizational systems.

    Responsibilities

    Grant Administration

    • Help administer JSC’s annual grant application and selection process.
    • Respond to routine questions from applicants and grantees.
    • Process and organize applications and supporting materials.
    • Maintain applicant and grantee records.
    • Support application review, scoring, and tabulation.
    • Coordinate communications with applicants and grantees throughout the grant cycle.

    Board & Organizational Administration

    • Coordinate board and committee meetings, including scheduling, calendar invitations, agendas, and meeting materials.
    • Take and distribute meeting minutes and track follow-up items.
    • Maintain organized Google Drive files, permissions, and organizational records.
    • Assist with contracts, DocuSign, and other routine administrative processes.
    • Help maintain organizational calendars, contact lists, and internal systems.
    • Support partnerships and coordination with outside organizations.

    Website & Communications

    • Maintain and update JSC’s website, including grant information, application materials, news, photos, and project updates.
    • Maintain JSC’s LinkedIn, Instagram, and other communications channels.
    • Gather photos, quotes, project updates, and other materials from JSC grantees.
    • Organize communications assets so they can be easily used by JSC and outside communications partners.
    • Post and repurpose content across JSC’s website and social channels.
    • Assist with email announcements and other routine external communications.

    What We’re Looking For

The right person will be someone with:

    • 3+ years of professional experience, preferably in nonprofit administration, operations, communications, grantmaking, or a related field.
    • Demonstrated experience meeting deadlines, independently managing projects and competing priorities without intensive supervision
    • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
    • Communicates proactively and responds reliably to email.
    • Strong written communication skills and professional judgment.
    • Experience working with Google Workspace and common online collaboration tools.
    • Comfort maintaining websites; direct experience with squarespace strongly preferred.
    • Is comfortable using social media professionally, particularly LinkedIn and Instagram.
    • Ability to work independently in a small, entrepreneurial organization with limited day-to-day supervision.
    • Ability to identify problems, seek help when needed, and keep projects moving.
    • Regular weekday availability during business hours for communication and occasional meetings.

Experience in Jewish communal organizations, philanthropy/grantmaking, communications, nonprofit organizations, or climate and clean energy is helpful but not required.

    Schedule

This is a part-time remote position of approximately 10–15 hours per week.

The schedule can be flexible, but the position requires regular availability during normal weekday business hours for meetings, email communication, and coordination with JSC leadership, board members, applicants, grantees, and partners.

Some weeks may require additional flexibility around grant deadlines or board meetings.

    Level of Language Proficiency

Proficiency in English is necessary for this position.
