Announcer/Producer - Audio Production

The Announcer/Producer performs varied on-air and production tasks for radio and digital audio, including regularly scheduled and varied fill-in board operations shifts. The position will operate studio equipment, assist with automation and traffic systems, voice live and taped audio, engineer recording sessions, and work with the Audio Production Manager on a range of regular and special productions for broadcast and digital distribution. The Announcer/Producer may work interdepartmentally with the Digital, News, Marketing, and Development teams (and others), in the production of products and programs or in assisting with events. Tasks of the position are accomplished within generally-defined procedures and processes. The person in this position must function effectively and efficiently independently and in a team environment.

• • Is responsible for regular board shifts as assigned, which includes preparing and reading announcements and news over the air for radio, and to a limited extent, television.
  • Produces regular and special programs and program segments such as, but not limited to, Poems from Here and Speaking in Maine.
  • Under the guidance of Audio Production Manager, works collaboratively with personnel from various departments to assure audio products meet their needs and specifications.

  • Works closely with Radio Operations to regularly adjust, correct, and update radio computer and automation systems/products; fully cross-trained and serves as designated backup for Radio Operations Announcer/Producer and others as assigned.
  • Operates studio equipment including computers, and digital and analog audio components.
  • As assigned, under the guidance of the Audio Production Manager, assists with podcast management and updates online materials.
  • Gathers sound/audio recordings in various locations for various departments.
  • Participates in various interdepartmental organizational projects, programs and endeavors such as the television basketball tournament, High School Quiz Show and various Marketing and Development events as assigned.
  • Maintains a station operations log when working as a radio announcer.
  • Maintains up-to-date written procedures, help train others as needed, presents and shares information.
  • Participates in on-air fundraising, fundraising activities and special events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Training/Skills Required:

• • At least one-year experience as a radio or television announcer required.
  • Familiarity with digital radio automation and traffic systems and processes preferred.
  • Knowledge of, familiarity with and regular use of computers/software/digital systems required.
  • Ability to make independent decisions in a dependable manner required.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills: skilled public speaker with excellent pronunciation. Steady and measured public radio on-air delivery style required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, on deadline, and to multitask, essential.
  • Dependability and organized work schedule and habits required.
  • Prior digital editing experience preferred.
