    Description

    The Central Baltimore Partnership (CBP) is seeking a highly organized, strategic, and collaborative Assistant Director of Community Projects to join our growing team.

    This is a mid-level, high-impact role within CBP’s Community Projects and Programs division, serving as a key operational partner to the Director of Community Projects and Programs. The Assistant Director will play a central role in strengthening the department’s grants management, performance tracking, and operational and evaluation infrastructure, ensuring that complex, multi-partner initiatives are effectively coordinated, evaluated, and aligned with organizational priorities.

    A primary focus of this role will be advancing CBP’s work connected to Maryland’s ENOUGH Initiative (https://governor.maryland.gov/enough) and the organization’s GLOW and Community Health initiatives, including the development and management of evaluation systems, performance metrics, and funder compliance and relationships. The Assistant Director will help translate this work into clear, data-informed insights that support decision-making, strengthen partnerships, and demonstrate impact.

    This role sits at the intersection of grants management, evaluation, and operations, with responsibility for building and managing systems that support both internal coordination and external accountability.

    This role is designed to evolve over time as CBP’s social mobility and community health initiatives continue to grow. With several major funding opportunities on the horizon and key programs in early stages of development, the Assistant Director will play an important role in shaping systems, strengthening implementation, and taking on expanded leadership responsibilities as the department scales—in alignment with organizational priorities and individual strengths and interests.

    Core Responsibilities

    Department Coordination & Strategic Support

    • Serve as a key operational partner to the Director of Community Projects, coordinating priorities, timelines, and deliverables across major initiatives;
    • Support strategic planning and cross-program alignment, with a focus on advancing CBP’s ENOUGH, GLOW, and Community Health initiatives;
    • Build and refine operational systems that support grants management, evaluation, and reporting
    • Support management of internal teams and cross-sector partnerships, including roles, expectations, and reporting processes;
    • Monitor progress and performance across initiatives, including key deliverables and partner contributions; and
    • Represent CBP in working groups and collaborative efforts, as appropriate.

    Grants Management & Funder Relations (Lead)

    • Lead coordination of major operating and programmatic grants, including reporting, compliance, and deliverables;
    • Develop and manage grant reporting systems, timelines, and documentation across multiple funding sources;
    • Draft and synthesize compelling narratives, reports, and impact materials for funders;
    • Support funder communications and relationship management in coordination with senior leadership; and
    • Ensure strong alignment between program activities, reporting requirements, and funding expectations.

    Performance Management, Evaluation & Learning (Lead)

    • Lead the development and implementation of evaluation and performance management systems for CBP’s ENOUGH, GLOW, and Community Health initiatives
    • Design and manage data collection tools, reporting structures, and performance metrics across multi-partner initiatives
    • Analyze and synthesize data to inform strategy, improve outcomes, and communicate impact • Produce dashboards, reports, and public-facing materials for funders and stakeholders
    • Facilitate regular performance review and learning sessions with staff and partners
    • Provide technical assistance to partners on data collection, reporting, and compliance and manage data-sharing agreements and collaborative evaluation frameworks

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Data Analytics, or related field;
    • 4–6+ years of experience in grants management, evaluation, operations, or program management;
    • Passion for mission-driven work and commitment to equitable community development;
    • Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives;
    • Strong analytical skills with experience in qualitative and quantitative evaluation, software, and tools;
    • Exceptional organizational, project management, and time management skills;
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, evolving environment;
    • Knowledge and experience with project management (e.g. Asana, Airtable, etc.) and online survey platform (e.g., Microsoft Forms, Survey Monkey, Qualtrics, etc.); and
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience managing government and philanthropic grants;
    • Background in public health, community development, or social impact initiatives;
    • Experience with performance management systems and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI); • Familiarity with cross-sector or collective impact initiatives; and
    • Experience working with diverse communities and culturally responsive evaluation approaches.

CBP collaborates with more than 150 organizations—including neighborhood associations, anchor institutions, businesses, and government agencies—to strengthen communities and expand opportunities.

    In 2024, the Moore-Miller Administration spearheaded the passage of the Engaging Neighborhoods, Organizations, Unions, Governments, and Households (ENOUGH) Act, a law intended to tackle the root causes of poverty in Maryland by addressing inequities and working with impacted communities to develop local solutions.

    Greenmount Life Opportunity & Wellness (GLOW) is a collaborative, multi-year initiative that focuses on improving the quality of life for all residents by meeting the needs of the most vulnerable residents who live along the historically disinvested Greenmount Avenue corridor – in the Barclay, East Baltimore Midway, Greenmount West, and Harwood neighborhoods.
