Head Start Preschool Teacher

Champlain Valley Head Start is looking for a Preschool Teacher at Integrated Arts Academy (IAA) in Burlington, Vermont. Head Start is a federally-funded, national child and family development program which provides comprehensive services for pregnant women, children from birth to age five, and their families.

As a Head Start Preschool Teacher and in collaboration with the Burlington School District, you will serve as the lead teacher in an outcomes oriented, team environment, and provide safe, healthy, friendly, and developmentally appropriate environments and experiences for children ages 3–5.

This position is 40 hours/week, approximately 42 weeks/year (summer layoff). Rate of pay during first 60- working day probationary period is $23.73- $28.08/hour depending on credentials; post probationary rate of pay is $24.07-$28.76/hour depending on credentials. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related education field; Vermont educator’s license with early childhood education endorsement preferred; knowledge and experience in developmentally appropriate early childhood practice, child outcome assessment, child behavior management, and curriculum planning, development and implementation; a commitment to social justice and to working with families with limited financial resources; excellent verbal and written communication (bilingual abilities a plus!), documentation, and recordkeeping skills; valid driver’s license, clean driving record and access to reliable transportation; physical ability to carry out required tasks.
