    Description

    Friends of Berkeley Tuolumne Camp (FOBTC) is seeking an inspiring and innovative non-profit leader to serve as our next Executive Director (ED).

    The ED will provide visionary leadership, strategic direction, fundraising strategy, and operational oversight for FOBTC, a nonprofit organization working with the City of Berkeley staff to enhance the Camp experience at Berkeley Tuolumne Camp. This role requires a leader who can drive the organization’s work to promote and support Camp, raise funds for programs, expand support for diverse communities, continue nature stewardship, improve community engagement, and help ensure a vibrant camp for future generations.

    The ED will oversee the organization’s programs, fundraising, operations, Board relations and financial management, while fostering a positive culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

    This is a work-from-home job, but requires regular in person events and meetings in the Berkeley area and sometimes at Camp near Yosemite National Park.

    This is a full-time exempt position with unlimited PTO (no other benefits). The ED reports to the Board of Directors and provides direct supervision to the Communications and Fundraising Coordinator. The ED will also work directly with the City of Berkeley’s Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Division staff.

    Level of Language Proficiency

    Education & Experience

    • Leadership experience in nonprofit management, event management or a related field
    • Experience managing contracts with government agencies, building relationships with stakeholders, public speaking, and donor cultivation

    Skills & Competencies

    • Knowledge and/or experience at a camp, and ideally at Camp Tuolumne or other Family Camp
    • Demonstrated success in leading teams, managing budgets, and fostering organizational growth
    • Exceptional leadership and strategic thinking skills
    • Strong fundraising and donor cultivation experience
    • Outstanding interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to work well within a team environment with high standards, integrity, and a sense of humor
    • Experience dealing effectively, diplomatically, honestly, and sensitively with staff, volunteers, and the public. Proven ability to build relationships with city officials, stakeholders, and community leaders
    • Experience managing and leading events, registration and fundraising
    • Must be able to attend occasional evening meetings/events and have occasional weekend and holiday availability (especially Labor Day Weekend)
    • Experience with Salesforce, Quickbooks, online fundraising software, Mailchimp, is desired but not required
