    Description

    The Assistant General Counsel will handle general legal work and compliance matters for the organization, acting as a strategic partner to the Associate General Counsel, the Deputy General Counsel, and the General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer. The Assistant General Counsel will advise on day-to-day legal needs and provide strategic legal guidance on a variety of topics.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Review, negotiate and draft contracts, releases, leases, software licenses, trademark licenses, information and technology agreements, and other legal documents, various marketing material for distribution, and advise on various legal issues including intellectual property, tax, regulatory issues, real estate and governance
    • Perform legal research and provide general advice on various matters
    • Research, draft and advise on human resource policies
    • Oversee matters referred to outside counsel in the U.S., Israel and other foreign countries
    • Develop and conduct legal training for volunteers and staff on legal matters.
    • Advise volunteers and staff on risk management regarding activities of the organization and its local chapters and compliance matters including preparing and updating organizational policies, guidelines and procedures for the organization
    • Other duties as assigned

    Required Knowledge, Education, Experience

    • Juris Doctor degree
    • Admitted to New York State Bar
    • 3+ years transactional experience at a major law firm (preference for real estate or corporate background)

    • Knowledge of general corporate law, contracts, leases
    • Ability to work with a diverse number of internal clients and outside business people
    • Ability to quickly identify, analyze and assess legal issues and risks and develop business-oriented solutions
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Strong analytical capabilities and judgment
    • Excellent organizational, prioritization and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and execute efficiently in a fast-paced environment
    • Self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with multiple constituencies and work proactively and independently
