    Description

    Position Summary

    The Director, Grants is an experienced fundraising professional responsible for managing and executing the Foundation’s full grant development pipeline—including prospect research, proposal writing, budgeting, compliance, and reporting.

    This role is accountable for raising a minimum of $2M annually from foundation and government funders through well-researched, compelling, and timely grant submissions.

    The Director works collaboratively with Marketing/Communications, Programs, and Finance teams to produce competitive proposals and high-quality reports and plays a pivotal tactical role in supporting the institution-wide strategy set by the Senior Director.

    Key Responsibilities

    Fundraising & Revenue Generation

    • Achieve a minimum of $2M annually in institutional funding through foundation and government proposals.
    • Manage a defined portfolio of prospects and funders, ensuring timely submission of letters of inquiry, applications, and reports.

    Proposal Development & Grant Management

    • Lead the development of all grant proposals, budgets, and supporting documentation in collaboration with Programs and Finance teams.
    • Maintain responsibility for grant timelines, reporting schedules, and compliance deliverables.
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive tracking systems for grants, deadlines, and funder engagement.

    Prospect Research & Pipeline Management

    • Research and identify new funding opportunities that align with organizational priorities.
    • Monitor trends in government and foundation funding to position the Foundation competitively.

    Funder Stewardship

    • Cultivate and manage productive relationships with program officers, grant managers, and agency staff.
    • Serve as the primary liaison for day-to-day funder communication and requests.

    Internal Collaboration

    • Work closely with Programs, Finance, Marketing/Communications, and Development teams to ensure proposal accuracy and alignment.
    • Coordinate with the Senior Director to support the execution of the institutional giving strategy.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
    • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 3 years in grant writing and revenue generation.
    • Demonstrated success securing and managing federal and/or state government grants.
    • Experience drafting high-quality proposals and managing grant compliance and reporting.
    • Strong written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
    • Proven ability to meet or exceed annual revenue targets.
    • Commitment to youth development, community impact, and DEI values.
    • Ability to travel up to 25%.
