    Location: Primarily remote; with the ability to travel to occasional meetings and attend NHeLP conferences or retreats.

    THE ORGANIZATION

    The National Health Law Program (NHeLP) protects and advances the health rights of low-income and underserved individuals. NHeLP engages in national, state, and local advocacy efforts, including analyses of federal and state laws, policy advocacy, litigation, continuing legal

    education, and individual technical support. We work with lawyers and advocates, community-

    based entities, federal and state policymakers, health care providers, and clients.

    THE TEAM

    This position will be part of the Mission Advancement Team (MAT). The Mission Advancement Team is the strategic engine that powers NHeLP’s impact. We connect expertise to resources, resources to action, and action to meaningful and equitable change. Working as a unified and collaborative team, we align communications, development, and strategic partnerships to advance NHeLP’s priorities with clarity, creativity, and results.

    Our work amplifies NHeLP’s voice, strengthens relationships with funders and partners, stewards the organization’s brand and reputation, and ensures that our mission is communicated in ways that inspire trust, engagement, and sustained support.

    THE POSITION

    NHeLP seeks a creative, proactive Content & Brand Associate to help shape, strengthen and advance the organization’s brand across all platforms. This is a hands-on role for an organized self-starter who combines strong design and storytelling skills with strategic thinking about how NHeLP shows up in the world. This is a role for someone eager to use their artistic and creative skills to advance health equity and social change.

    The Content & Brand Associate will help ensure that NHeLP’s visual and narrative identity is consistent, compelling, and effective across platforms. The role combines brand stewardship with content production, including graphic design, digital content, and support for social media, events, and donor communications. This position is ideal for someone who is excited to grow, learn, and contribute to a mission-driven organization.

    The Content & Brand Associate is a member of the Mission Advancement Team and works closely with communications, development, and program staff across the organization.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Brand Management & Implementation (20%)

    • Maintain and help build NHeLP’s brand identity across internal and external materials.
    • Create, update, and manage branded templates such as PowerPoint slides, fact sheets, reports, social media graphics, email banners, and event materials.
    • Maintain an organized, accessible library of brand assets including templates, logos, style guides, boilerplate language, and staff photos.
    • Review materials and provide feedback to ensure alignment with NHeLP’s visual and messaging standards.
    • Ensure coalition and partner-facing materials reflect accurate and current NHeLP branding.
    • Work collaboratively across departments to support high-quality, on-brand work products.

    Content Creation & Production (50%)

    • Design graphics and visual assets for social media, newsletters, web content, events, and fundraising campaigns.
    • Support video and audio editing projects, including short videos, clips, or podcast-related materials.
    • Assist with the creation of donor- and supporter-facing materials, including campaign toolkits and shareable content.
    • Stay current on digital content and design trends, platform changes, and emerging tools relevant to nonprofit communications
    • Coordinate with external designers, vendors, and consultants as needed to produce branded assets on time and to specification.

    Internal Brand Support & Training (10%)

    • Develop onboarding and reference materials to help staff understand NHeLP’s brand expectations and tools.
    • Serve as a resource to staff on templates, formatting, and brand usage.

    Conferences, Events & Visibility (10%)

    • Coordinate branded visuals and materials for conferences and events, including signage, slides, printed materials, and table displays.
    • Support consistent branding in virtual and hybrid settings, such as Zoom backgrounds and digital templates.
    • Assist with the production, inventory, and distribution of NHeLP swag and promotional materials.
    • Help track and highlight staff honors, awards, speaking engagements, and other recognition.

    Writing & Editing Support (10%)

    • Draft or edit short-form content such as speaker bios, award announcements, promotional blurbs, and brief brand-focused copy.
    • Support integration of brand messaging across newsletters, web content, and social media graphics as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 2–4 years of experience in communications, branding, marketing, visual design, and/or content creation.
    • Proficiency with tools such as Canva, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign or Illustrator.
    • Experience with video or audio editing tools and supporting digital storytelling projects.

    MUST-HAVE SKILLS & EXPERIENCES

    • Strong attention to detail and ability to apply and maintain brand standards.
    • Comfort managing multiple projects with competing deadlines.
    • Strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Commitment to health equity, public interest values, and inclusive workplace practices.
    • Strong understanding of audio and visual accessibility best practices and requirements.

    NICE TO HAVE SKILLS & EXPERIENCES (optional)

    • Experience in advocacy, nonprofit, legal, or coalition environments.
    • Familiarity with WordPress, email marketing platforms such as EveryAction or Mailchimp, and basic HTML.
    • Basic copyediting skills and comfort writing short-form content for public audiences.

    COMPENSATION

    The compensation range for this position is between $60,910 and $64,718 annually.

    Compensation is competitive, commensurate with experience, and aligned with internal equity.

    LOCATION

    This position is largely remote, with the occasional need to be at the office and travel to any of

    NHeLP’s office locations as needed.
