    Press / Communications Coordinator

    Artists at Risk (AR) / Ecologists at Risk (ER) by Perpetuum Mobile (PM)

    ARTISTS at RISK (AR) / ECOLOGISTS at RISK (ER) is seeking a committed and versatile PR professional, with a focus on visuals, press relations and strategy.

    Your Responsibilities:

    • Crafting engaging web and social media posts
    • Writing, collecting and effectively distributing press materials
    • Cultivating relationships with the international media outlets
    • Developing and implementing an effective PR strategy across all events, platforms and materials
    • Analyzing data to measure the impact of new designs and strategies, and make adjustments as needed
    • Managing internal and external communications with a variety of partners. These include coordinating PR and communications with institutions and partners in the arts and human rights, AR-Residences, AR-Candidates, funding partners, etc.
    • Writing and contributing to well-researched longer-form original material for reports and grant applications
    • Contributing to administrative responsibilities

    Job Requirements:

    • Strong skills in public relations and press
    • True-native fluency in spoken and written English
    • Close and consistent attention to detail
    • Independent thinking, fact-checking and research skills
    • The ability to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
    • Experience with a range of social media platforms (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, Meta Business, WordPress, MailChimp, Mastodon, Threads, Bluesky, etc.)
    • Familiarity with and adaptation to IT systems and security demands
    • Interest in contributing to building and developing a steadily-growing international NGO, with hundreds of partnerships around the world
    • Additional language skills are a plus

    Location: Online. Time-zone differences play a role. A stable internet connection and up-to-date home-office equipment are required. Our shared office facilities are in Lapinlahti, Helsinki, Finland.

    Job hours: Part-time or full-time, depending on the agreement.

    Perpetuum Mobile ry (PM), which runs ARTISTS at RISK (AR) as well as ECOLOGISTS at RISK (ER), is an international NGO active at the intersection of human rights and the arts (501c-3 equivalency). Since 2013, PM has developed AR to become a mondial network of artistic institutions, non-profits, municipalities, state institutions and international organisations to assist, relocate and fund artists who are at risk of persecution or oppression, or are fleeing war or terror.

    Artists at Risk (AR) has become known as the “go-to” institution for artists and cultural professionals at risk. Since 2013, AR has relocated and funded over 1,100 artists and cultural professionals (principals, not counting family and dependents) at over 330 partner institutions globally. The Helsinki-based AR-Secretariat coordinates the online office of the global AR-Team.

    AR/ER’s umbrella organisation, Perpetuum Mobile (PM) curates the Artists at Risk (AR) Pavilion and other small and large exhibitions, forms of resilience, training and healing, conferences, festivals, publications, films and innovative interventions and formats.
