    Description

    Sunhee’s Community Place (SCP) is a community-based organization dedicated to empowering immigrant neighbors through legal navigation, employment opportunities and educational programming. As the non-profit arm of Sunhee’s Farm and Kitchen, SCP delivers culturally-responsive educational programming, navigation of legal services, mutual aid, workforce development, and community-building initiatives to strengthen individuals, families, and the broader community.

    Role Summary

    Sunhee’s Community Place is seeking a part-time Executive Director to provide strategic and operational leadership in support of the organization’s mission, programs, and long-term sustainability. This role is responsible for guiding organizational priorities, supporting staff, strengthening community partnerships, and stewarding financial and operational health within a part-time leadership structure.

    The ideal candidate brings a justice-centered approach to leadership, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to balance strategic oversight with practical execution in a collaborative, community-rooted environment. This role also requires flexibility and the ability to navigate the evolving needs of immigrant communities, while addressing and responding to policies surrounding immigration in a sensitive and appropriate manner.

    Key Responsibilities

    Leadership & Organizational Management

    • Provide values-driven leadership that fosters a healthy & culturally-affirming work environment.
    • Supervise & coach staff to ensure high-quality program-delivery and team sustainability
    • Align programs and operations with SCP’s mission and organizational strategy.
    • Partner with the Board of Directors on governance and organizational sustainability.
    • Build and maintain relationships with community members, grassroots networks, and partner organizations.

    Finance & Resource Development

    • Oversee budgeting, financial planning, & fiscal management with transparency and accountability.
    • Support fundraising efforts through donor stewardship and resource development initiatives.
    • Coordinate with grant writer and consultant for grant applications, reporting, & compliance.
    • Identify opportunities to strengthen long-term organizational financial health.
    • Ensure compliance with grant requirements and goals, including report submissions, outcomes documentation and proper tracking of operational and project-related spending.
    • Manage corporate sponsorship programs and implement marketing strategies to engage new donors and development opportunities.

    Operations & Program Oversight

    • Oversee day-to-day organizational operations and ensure effective internal coordination.
    • Assess & strengthen internal systems, workflows, and practices to support staff effectiveness and program impact.
    • Support staff in monitoring & improving programs (English classes & legal service navigation) to meet community needs

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrated leadership experience in nonprofit management; prior experience as an executive director, deputy director, or senior manager preferred.
    • Strong understanding of community-based organizations, immigrant-serving communities, and/or social-justice-oriented work.
    • Experience supervising and mentoring staff.
    • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and grant administration.
    • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
    • Commitment to equity, cultural humility, and trauma-informed practices.
    • Ability to balance decisiveness with collaboration, and clarity with care.

    Compensation

    $30-35/hr, 20hrs/wk

    Hybrid workplace

    2 full-days in-office or 3 half-days in-office, with additional remote work
