Working under the supervision of the Program Director or designee, the Facilities Maintenance Technician also plays an active role in coaching and working alongside residents to teach basic facility upkeep and maintenance skills as part of the Hope Housework-Ordered Day model. This role supports residents in developing practical life skills, teamwork, and accountability within their living environment.

    5. Prepare residential units for occupancy by cleaning, sanitizing, and performing minor repairs as instructed by the supervisor.
    6. Engage residents in hands-on maintenance and cleaning activities, teaching proper use of tools, cleaning techniques, and safety procedures.
    7. Coach residents on basic facility care and upkeep, such as light repair, organization, waste management, and preventive maintenance.
    8. Support the work-ordered day by collaborating with residents on maintenance-related community projects that promote teamwork and responsibility.
    9. Monitor facility conditions and promptly report maintenance, safety, or sanitation concerns to the Program Director or supervisor.
    10. Maintain inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies, ensuring equipment is in safe and functional condition.
    11. Adhere to all health, safety, and building code regulations, and participate in facility inspections or emergency drills.
    12. Collaborate with staff to support the therapeutic goals of residents by modeling responsibility, reliability, and care for the shared community environment.
    13. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Program Director or designee.

    Minimum qualifications:

    2. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in building maintenance, custodial services, or facilities operations, preferably in a residential, mental health, or institutional setting.
    3. Working knowledge of building systems, basic repairs, and sanitation practices.
    4. Ability to teach and mentor residents on basic maintenance and cleaning tasks in a supportive and respectful manner.
    5. Skilled in safe operation of custodial and maintenance equipment (e.g., snow blowers, floor buffers, power tools).
    6. Understanding safety standards, OSHA compliance, and proper use of cleaning agents and materials.
    7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage residents constructively.
    8. Must be reliable, punctual, and capable of working independently and collaboratively.
    9. Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting to 50 pounds and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
