    Description

    Position Overview

Do you believe every child deserves a caring mentor and the opportunity to fall in love with reading? Join Read to a Child as an Assistant Program Coordinator, where you’ll play a vital role in bringing our Read Aloud Mentoring Program to life. By coordinating volunteers, partnering with schools, and supporting meaningful mentor-student relationships, you’ll help elementary students build confidence, improve literacy skills, and experience the power of reading.

Read to a Child’s Read Aloud Mentoring Program (RAMP) pairs a volunteer mentor with a recommended Kindergarten-4th grade elementary school student for a rewarding weekly read-aloud experience during students' lunchtime. The Assistant Program Coordinator is responsible for working in conjunction with the Program Coordinator to ensure that volunteer mentors, students and school staff have a positive and meaningful experience. Leo Politi Elementary hosts both virtual and in person RAMP sessions.

The current open Assistant Program Coordinator role is an on-site position working in schools directly with students. Successful candidates must be comfortable working in an in-school environment and in keeping with all safety protocols required by the school, as well as be comfortable working with technology. This role is extremely important to the program’s function and success and will be an integral part of a fun and collaborative team. If you’re organized, people-focused, and passionate about making a difference in your community, we’d love to hear from you!
