    Description

    Key Responsibilities

    Accounting & Financial Management

    • Maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and budget-to-actual reports.
    • Monitor cash flow and ensure timely deposits and payments.
    • Support annual budget development and coordinate the parish’s annual audit or financial review.
    • Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, tax laws, and church financial policies.

    Payroll Administration

    • Process semi-monthly payroll using Paychex Flex, ensuring accurate withholdings and deductions.
    • Administer Paychex Time & Attendance, including time entry review, approvals, audits, and corrections.
    • Maintain payroll and timekeeping compliance with federal, Washington State, and local labor laws.
    • Prepare and distribute W-2s, 1099s, and other required year-end documents.
    • Serve as the primary contact for payroll and timekeeping questions.

    Contribution & Fund Accounting

    • Record and reconcile pledges, contributions, and restricted funds.
    • Ensure compliance with donor restrictions and proper fund allocation.
    • Prepare donor contribution statements in collaboration with the Executive Assistant to the Rector.

    Collaboration & Communication

    • Provide clear financial reporting to the Rector, Chief of Staff, Treasurer, Vestry, and ministry leaders.
    • Communicate financial information clearly and accessibly to staff and parishioners.
    • Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers in a customer-service-oriented manner.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • 3–5 years of professional accounting and payroll experience in a nonprofit organization (required).
    • Demonstrated experience with fund accounting and donor-restricted funds.
    • Working knowledge of cash-basis and accrual accounting.
    • Strong attention to detail, discretion, and organizational skills.

    Strongly Preferred

    • Experience in a faith-based, church, or nonprofit organization.
    • Hands-on experience with Paychex Flex and Paychex Time & Attendance.
    • Familiarity with ACS Financials and/or Realm.
    • Experience with Washington State payroll and employment compliance.

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Salary Range: $87,000–$95,000, commensurate with experience

    Diocese of Olympia & Church Requirements

    • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, completion of the Safe Church course in accordance with Diocese of Olympia Safe Church policies.
