    Description

    Guiding Principles:

    • Promote a professional and supportive culture that embraces MSP’s mission and guiding principles
    • Identify and implement approaches, trainings or tools needed for infusion of our guiding principles
    • Ensure that MSP’s mission and guiding principles remain at the forefront of our work and are reflected in all internal and external activities

    Case Management:

    • Conduct intake and assessments for children entering shelter, identifying immediate safety, developmental, and emotional needs.
    • Provide case management, referrals, and advocacy to support children’s access to healthcare, counseling, childcare, afterschool programs, summer camps, and educational services.
    • Partner with caregivers to develop individualized service plans that address children’s developmental milestones, trauma impacts, and family goals. • Facilitate age-appropriate groups, structured activities, and supportive programming within the residential setting.
    • Collaborate with schools, pediatricians, mental health providers, and community partners to ensure continuity of care and advocate for children’s educational rights.
    • Support families navigating public benefits, OVS crime victim compensation, and other resources to meet children’s needs.
    • Maintain accurate, confidential case records in Apricot and other required systems; ensure compliance with OVS/VOCA and agency reporting requirements.
    • Participate in weekly case review meetings with residential and family services teams to coordinate holistic support.
    • Assist with crisis intervention and safety planning for families in shelter.
    • Support transition planning when families are preparing to move from shelter to permanent housing.
    • Engage in community outreach, trainings, and coalitions related to children’s trauma and domestic violence as assigned.
    • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Social Work, Counseling, or related field preferred.
    • Minimum of two years’ experience working with children and families, preferably in domestic violence, residential, or child welfare settings.
    • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, child development, and the impact of exposure to domestic violence.
    • Strong advocacy skills and ability to navigate complex systems (schools, benefits, healthcare, child protective services).
    • Bi-lingual in English/Spanish strongly preferred; additional languages valued. • Strong written and oral communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management databases (e.g., Apricot).
    • Ability to manage crises with empathy, sound judgment, and diplomacy.
    • Demonstrated commitment to anti-oppression principles and equitable service delivery.
    • Valid driver’s license and reliable, insured transportation required.
