Position Type: Part-Time Contractor or Hourly Employee
Hours: Approximately 10 hours per week (flexible schedule)
Compensation: $24-27/hour
Location: Remote
About the Organization
Friends of Berkeley Tuolumne Camp supports and promotes programs, community engagement, fundraising, and communications for Berkeley Tuolumne Camp and its extended community. We are seeking a detail-oriented and creative Communications and Data Specialist to help strengthen outreach, maintain accurate records, and support ongoing organizational operations.
Position Summary
The Communications and Data Specialist will manage core communications and administrative data tasks that support the organization’s outreach, visibility, and operational effectiveness. This role combines marketing and communications responsibilities with database and administrative support. The ideal candidate is organized, self-directed, comfortable with digital tools, and able to communicate clearly with diverse audiences.
Primary Responsibilities
Communications & Marketing
- Draft and distribute email newsletters and announcements
- Create promotional content for events, fundraising campaigns, and programs
- Update and maintain website content
- Assist with social media and online engagement efforts
- Coordinate communication calendars and outreach timelines
- Help maintain brand consistency across communications materials
Website & Digital Support
- Update website pages, event information, and registration links (Wordpress)
- Upload documents, photos, and announcements
- Monitor website content for accuracy and relevance
- Coordinate with volunteers or vendors on technical updates as needed
Data Entry & Administrative Support
- Maintain and update donor, member, and contact databases in Salesforce (Nonoprofit success pack), MailChimp and Classy/GoFundMePro
- Enter and organize registration, fundraising, and communications data
- Support data cleanup and reporting projects
- Assist with maintaining digital files and organizational records
- Help prepare mailing lists and communications reports
Desired Qualifications
- Strong written communication and editing skills
- Experience with email marketing platforms (such as Mailchimp or similar tools)
- Familiarity with website content management systems (such as WordPress or similar)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfort working independently and managing multiple tasks
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and standard office software
- Prior nonprofit, outdoor education, or community organization experience is a plus

Schedule & Supervision
This position averages approximately 10 hours per week with flexible scheduling. Workload may vary somewhat around events, fundraising campaigns, or seasonal activities. The position reports to organizational leadership and collaborates with board members and volunteers.
