    About the Role

    NYEC is seeking a Communications Coordinator to support the day-to-day execution of our communications and member engagement efforts. Reporting to the Associate Director of Strategic Partnerships and Communications, this role is ideal for a skilled communicator who can translate organizational priorities into compelling, on-brand content across digital platforms, newsletters, and member communications. We are looking for someone who is proactive, collaborative, detail-oriented, and excited to help strengthen a national network of organizations working to expand opportunities for young people. The ideal candidate is energized by storytelling, relationship-building, and creating communications that connect members, elevate promising practices, and advance NYEC's mission.

You'll help tell the stories of organizations creating lasting change while contributing to efforts that strengthen communities and improve economic outcomes for opportunity youth.

    Key Responsibilities

    Communications

    • Write monthly newsletters and weekly eblasts
    • Create graphics and branded materials for social media, events, and digital communications using Canva
    • Write, schedule and publish social media content across LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook
    • Coordinate updates to online resource libraries, publications, and digital assets
    • Write and disseminate blog posts
    • Assist with SEO and website performance improvements.
    • Develop press releases & engage reporters and other members of the media
    • Track and compile monthly communications analytics & build targeted mailing lists
    • Support event communications outreach (typically 2 major national events each year)
    • Manage data and analytics for communications reports

    Member Engagement

    • Coordinate member spotlight submissions — managing the intake form, following up with members, and formatting content for publication
    • Support in the recruitment of new members through 1:1 engagement meetings & follow up
    • Help build the capacity of the organization to support members from across the country
    • Support as needed member-facing webinars and peer learning events with promotion, logistics coordination, and follow-up communications
    • Develop strategies to increase member participation in events, peer learning communities, and other member benefits.
    • Analyze member engagement data and recommend improvements to increase retention and participation.
    • Create campaigns to support membership recruitment, events, and fundraising initiatives.
    • Identify opportunities to amplify member stories and organizational impact through digital communications.

    Events

    • Support communications planning and execution for national conferences, webinars, and virtual events.
    • Develop promotional campaigns, registration communications, and post-event follow-up.
    • Create event marketing materials, signage, presentations, and attendee resources.
    • Support onsite event communications and content creation, including social media coverage.

    Required Qualifications

    • 3+ years of experience in communications, marketing, membership, or a related field or equivalent educational experience
    • Exceptional writing and editing skills
    • Comfort leading meetings independently with stakeholders and partners
    • Strong graphic design using Canva or similar design tools for producing branded graphics
    • Experience with email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, Constant Contact etc.)
    • Social media management across LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
    • Comfort working independently and collaboratively

    Nice to Have

    • Experience working with a membership-based organization or nonprofit
    • Salesforce Experience is a plus + ( team has just started using)
    • Background in or passion for youth workforce development, education equity, or related fields ( ie. familiar with the opportunity youth population or similar populations of marginalized young people our members serve)
    • Experience with WordPress or similar CMS for website updates
    • Experience managing multiple communications projects simultaneously and prioritizing competing deadlines.

    Level of Language Proficiency
