    Job Description

      • This is a dynamic position that includes individual advising, group work facilitation, classroom teaching, project management, and developing strategies to continue improving our delivery of college and career services.
      • Manage a caseload of seniors to provide one-on-one and group advisement on CUNY, SUNY, and Private/Out-of-State school lists and applications, financial aid applications, and college /career matriculation.
      • Maintain knowledge and relationships with and of CUNY, SUNY and Private School admissions, SAT/ACT testing requirements, Opportunity programs, and FAFSA and TAP processes to assist students and families in making educated decisions about college.
      • Plan and implement college-related events, including, but not limited to college fairs, college trips, representative visits, CUNY workshops, college Info sessions, etc.
      • Collaborate with Guidance Counselors, Social Workers, and Teachers regarding student information and service delivery
      • Meet with Supervisor and team weekly and provide updates, challenges, and goals
      • Track all student interactions and outcomes by complying with all data management protocols on a daily and weekly basis

    Position Requirements

    CYD at Manhattan Comprehensive Night and Day High School is looking for a candidate who will thrive in a structured, deadline driven, and highly motivated college office. We are seeking an individual who also has the following:

      • Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited institution in relevant field required, Master’s Degree preferred
      • Demonstrated experience in providing college services with a desire and commitment to a career in the college access field
      • Extensive knowledge of CUNY/SUNY, the college admissions process and components, and financial aid systems (FAFSA, TAP, CSS, Dream Act, etc.)
      • Experience in urban schools and/or community based educational organizations required.
      • Strong facilitation skills in small and large group settings a must
      • The ability and desire to work with a diverse student population, including immigrant and undocumented students, ideally with a social justice lens
      • Enthusiasm, initiative, sense of humor, patience, and creativity
      • Flexible and resourceful team player – must enjoy working on a team!
      • Attention to detail and proven organizational skills required
      • Must have computer proficiency
      • Language skills. Proficiency in Spanish, French, Arabic or Mandarin preferred.
