Director, Office of Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation (JPIC)

The School Sisters of Notre Dame of the Atlantic-Midwest Province, Inc. are hiring a Director of Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation (JPIC). Qualified candidates will demonstrate an initial understanding of the mission and charism of SSND with a capacity to develop it. They possess fluid knowledge of Catholic Social Teaching, including Laudato Si’. They will have experience with faith-based institutions and demonstrate commitment to building a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. The Director collaborates with the International and North American SSND SHALOM Network and promotes SHALOM through its JPIC ministry with sisters, associates, lay colleagues, justice partners, and friends of the Atlantic-Midwest province. The Director will bring an appreciation for women religious and respect for their contributions to church and society.

Primary Responsibilities

• Function within a Catholic institution, guided by the mission and charism of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, Catholic Social Teaching, Laudato Si’, and current papal teachings.
• Consult and collaborate with the JPIC Advisory Board to create JPIC programs that are coherent with congregational documents and the reality of the life of the province.
• Develop and implement educational programs, advocacy efforts, and communications that reflect SSND priorities and values.
• Coordinate the planning, implementation, and follow-up logistics associated with JPIC programs.
• Facilitate dialogue and communal discernment within and among province JPIC committees to develop initiatives that foster communion among the committees and advance SSND mission priorities.
• Identify, cultivate, and assess partnerships that support the sustainability and growth of the province JPIC committees.

Skills and Qualifications

• To represent the mission of SSND adequately, the Director of JPIC will be a reflective and action-oriented leader who is deeply grounded in the Gospel, Catholic Social Teaching, Laudato Si', and willing and committed to embracing and growing in the SSND charism and the congregation's Chapter Directions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant digital communication and collaboration platforms.
• At least five years of progressively responsible experience in project coordination in a JPIC-related ministry on a team in a faith-based or non-profit organization.
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
• Willingness and ability to travel as required throughout the province and beyond.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in theology is preferred, with studies in Peace and Justice initiatives, knowledge of Vatican II, including Laudato Si ’, and synodal church ecclesiology. A master’s degree is encouraged.
