Horizons Summer Enrichment Program Literacy Specialist (Summer 2026)

Horizons at Greene Street Friends School is seeking a dynamic and effective Literacy

Specialist to join our team this summer. The Literacy Specialist oversees all reading

instruction, remediation, and advancement aspects of the Horizons program. S/he participates

in the development of a summer reading plan and is responsible for implementing its goals and

objectives in keeping with our strategic goals and Horizons National’s requirements. The ideal

candidate will have experience as a PreK to Grade 8 reading specialist and literacy coach. We

are looking for a talented, passionate, caring professional who will work collaboratively

alongside an outstanding teaching team and administrative staff to fulfill the Horizons mission

and create a fun, inclusive, inspiring, and educational summer experience for all Horizons

students. The Literacy Specialist will work with lead and assistant teachers, other reading

specialists, math specialist, family engagement specialist, and will be supported by the Program

Directors.

This is a summer position taking place from June 22 – July 31, 2026. Program hours are Monday

through Friday, 7:45 am to 3:30 pm. There are two required orientation days in June, with final

dates TBD. The program takes place on the campus of Greene Street Friends School in the

Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia.
