Job Title: Communications Manager
Reports to: Director of Advancement and Community Engagement
The Jewish Community Project (JCP) of Lower Manhattan was founded in 2002 as a grassroots effort to grow Jewish life in downtown NYC. Based in Tribeca, JCP is an open and organic Jewish community that enables individuals and families to become a creative force in the life of the organization through educational, cultural, social, and spiritual experiences. The organization now serves approximately 300 downtown families and individuals, and also operates a prominent Early Childhood Center (ECC) and Hebrew School Project (HSP).
JCP is seeking a Communications Manager who will oversee, coordinate, and implement JCP-wide communications and marketing efforts, working in partnership with the staff of the Development Department, Early Childhood Center, Hebrew School Project (HSP), and Jewish Life Programming. This role leads JCP’s communications and marketing strategy and oversees the organization's content, design, and digital presence. This role is responsible for all communications and marketing platforms, developing storytelling and brand presence, and visual content.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage all digital communications, including website, email marketing, social media, and online advertising (Google Ads). This includes content development, scheduling, site maintenance and administration, monitoring and reporting metrics, and ensuring all content is on-brand and search and social-optimized.
- Produce original content, including graphic designs, reels, and short films, for JCP’s digital channels that engage audience segments and lead to measurable action.
- Maintain a content calendar and develop and execute digital campaigns for key days, themes, and events.
- Produce all email campaigns, soliciting content from internal sources across departments, and manage review, testing, sending, and reporting metrics.
- Write clear, concise, and engaging communications materials aligned with the JCP brand voice, including newsletter copy, email marketing, and digital content.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to collect stories, photos, and content from across JCP programs and document key events, milestones, and community moments through photography, writing, and social content.
- Manage the design and ordering of promotional products and print and digital materials for all JCP departments.
- Engage online audiences to raise visibility of and interest in JCP, its mission, and its programs.
- Manage JCP’s CRM, ensuring distribution lists are up-to-date, clean, and segmented for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Manage relationships with communications and marketing vendors.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal, writing, and copyediting skills.
- Experience managing social media and e-newsletter platforms.
- Experience with Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
- Experience with CRMs, preferably HubSpot.
- Strong project management; comfortable with managing concurrent deadlines.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Works well independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adjust priorities accordingly.
Qualifications – Preferred
- CMS experience.
- Photography or video skills.
- Google Ads
- Website analytics and social media metrics experience.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of experience in communications, marketing, or related field, preferably in a nonprofit or Jewish organization setting.
Physical Requirements:
● Ability to attend events and capture content in real-time.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Lifting up to 20 pounds as needed.
Work Environment
- Hybrid: three days in-office, two days remote. General expected working hours 9a-5p.
- Event support on some evenings and weekends. In office hours to be adjusted accordingly.
- Ability and flexibility to work Jewish holidays preferred.
Benefits
- Salary: $70,000 - $75,000 commensurate with experience. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position.
