    About End of Life Choices California (EOLCCA)

    Our mission is to provide Californians with the information and support they need to navigate their end-of-life options. Our statewide organization has over 80 volunteers who answer inquiries and deliver presentations on advance care planning, end-of-life options (including California’s End of Life Option Act), and EOLCCA’s free services. We are a small organization led by an Executive Director and a Volunteer & Program Manager, and we are excited to expand our staff with this new position.

    The Role:

    This part-time (20 hours/week) remote position is the primary point of contact for our Speakers Program, which includes in-person and virtual presentations by EOLCCA volunteers to various communities across the state (retirement communities, healthcare organizations, underserved populations, etc.), and manages EOLCCA’s participation in health/senior/resource fairs across the state. This role reports to the Volunteer & Program Manager.

    In addition, the Education and Outreach Coordinator provides support to volunteers involved in the speakers program and outreach projects, in collaboration with the Volunteer & Program Manager and Speaker Program Coordinator.

    Speakers Program:

    1. Monitor the Speakers Program mailbox daily for incoming requests for speakers and for health and resource fairs.
    2. Assist our volunteer Speaker Program Coordinator with scheduling new speaker trainings.
    3. Coordinate with event organizers to confirm mutual understanding of the request and how it will be fulfilled.
    4. Gather and document all logistics from event organizers. Follow up with event organizers on all outstanding items.
    5. Contact and assign trained speaker volunteers to confirm their availability to deliver presentations and staff health and resource fairs on an event-by-event basis. Maintain and ensure speakers have an appropriate supply of brochures and materials to distribute to the volunteer speakers.
    6. Follow up with event organizers and volunteer speakers for a summary of completed events.
      1. Reporting and Documentation:Maintain accurate records of outreach activities and Speakers Program outcomes.
      2. Provide periodic data reports on activities and impact.

    Outreach:

    1. Track outreach and education materials and manage distribution to volunteers and organizations requesting information about EOLCCA services.
    2. Assist the Volunteer & Program Manager in supporting outreach volunteers and teams (Hospice Outreach, etc.).
    3. Track volunteer outreach activities and their impact with support from the Volunteer & Program Manager.
    4. Assist the Volunteer & Program Manager with follow-up about new or updated resources (hospices, doctors, etc.) identified by outreach volunteers.
    5. Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Resident of California.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to discuss end-of-life issues with empathy and compassion.
    • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment (including staff, board members, and volunteers).
    • Demonstrated skills in tracking activities, collecting data, and maintaining records.
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
    • Experienced user of Google products (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, etc.), Microsoft PowerPoint.
    • Experience using Pointapp.org or other volunteer management software is a plus, but not required.
    • Experience using WordPress is a plus, but not required.
    • Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
    • Experience with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a plus, but not required.
    • Reliable and strong internet connection.
    • This remote position requires occasional lifting and moving of outreach materials of 25 pounds or less.
    • This remote position requires a 20-hour work week and the ability to work 4-5 days a week, Monday - Friday.

    Level of Language Proficiency

    Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
