Who is Comunidad?

Comunidad is a youth-led organization building the power of Latino communities to shape their own future. We organize with people whose talent and leadership are too often overlooked, and we turn their ideas into collective action.

We’re hiring a bilingual Spanish-English organizer to work with landscapers and youth to grow our climate smart landscaping work. Together, we train people to create landscapes that help reduce flooding and wildfire risk and keep contaminants from reaching homes and the Puget Sound. We also want the people doing this vital work to have good jobs, ownership opportunities, and the power to shape the industry.

What you’ll do

• Build trusting relationships with landscapers, youth, and community leaders through one-on-one conversations and time in the field.
• Help leaders plan and carry out trainings, landscaping projects, and campaigns.
• Work with landscapers and youth to strengthen how the program runs and bring it to more communities.
• Explore cooperative ownership, good jobs, and other ways for the environmental leaders in our landscaping program to thrive.
• Listen, research, test ideas, and turn what people learn into a strategy for change.

This is an organizing role. You’ll help people build leadership and collective power while making real impact happen.

Who thrives here?

You’re fluent in Spanish and English and love working alongside youth and skilled people whose knowledge may come from years of practice rather than formal education. You see them as partners in creating solutions. You’re curious about how environmental work, economic opportunity, and community power fit together. You follow through, welcome coaching, and are willing to spend time building relationships, making calls, and solving problems with others.

You do not need a degree or prior landscaping expertise. Organizing, landscaping, environmental justice, workforce development, or cooperative experience is welcome.

Pay, benefits, and location

We’re open to several experience levels, from Associate Organizer (30-31/hour) through Senior Organizer (32-35/hour). Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance; paid time off; 11 paid holidays; life insurance; and retirement contributions after minimum tenure.

The role includes regular travel across rural and urban King and Pierce Counties, with some hybrid work. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
