    Description

    The Research & Monitoring Officer leads the development and implementation of data collection and monitoring programs. This position ensures that conservation activities, government advice, and protected area management are supported by high-quality data collection and analysis, while strengthening the Foundation’s role as Sint Maarten’s leading organization for biodiversity conservation. This is a hands-on role that combines fieldwork, technical leadership, data analysis, student internship support, and science-to-management interpretation. The Research and Monitoring Officer will work alongside Conservation Staff in the field. They will also be responsible for maintaining research equipment, updating monitoring protocols to ensure data quality, and signing off on scientific reporting. As NFSXM is in an ongoing planning phase (2026), this role will also play a key part in organizing and translating monitoring data to support the development of a Conservation Strategy and Marine Park Management Plan(s) as well as related policy instruments.

    Level of Language Proficiency

    • Oral and written fluency in English
    • Proficiency in French, Dutch, or Spanish is a plus
