    The Counterterrorism Education Learning Lab (CELL) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing public safety through education. Through our acclaimed exhibit, award-winning speaker series, and impactful training programs, we empower individuals and communities to better understand, identify, and prevent security threats.     Purpose of the Role

    The CELL is hiring a Marketing & Communications Manager to help tell our story, strengthen engagement with our community, and increase visibility for our programs, events, trainings, and impact.

    This hands-on role is ideal for a strong writer, thoughtful storyteller, and organized project manager who can turn complex subject matter and organizational priorities into clear, compelling communications. The Marketing & Communications Manager will support content strategy, event and program marketing, digital communications, public relations, brand consistency, and cross-functional project coordination.

    What You’ll Do

    • Develop and manage content that communicates the CELL’s mission, impact, programs, and community relevance
    • Write and edit newsletters, articles, impact stories, website copy, stakeholder communications, donor-facing content, and event materials
    • Create marketing plans and promotional timelines for major events, programs, trainings, and initiatives
    • Manage digital communications, including email marketing, social media, website updates, audience engagement, and analytics
    • Support media outreach, public relations opportunities, community visibility, thought leadership, and stakeholder engagement
    • Coordinate with designers, photographers, printers, web vendors, and other external partners
    • Review communications for alignment with the CELL’s brand standards, voice, mission, and strategic messaging
    • Develop and maintain branded communications assets, templates, and messaging resources
    • Use reporting, AI tools, and emerging technologies to improve communications workflows, efficiency, and effectiveness

    What Success Looks Like

    A successful Marketing & Communications Manager will help the CELL tell its story more consistently, increase visibility for events and programs, improve engagement across digital channels, strengthen communications workflows, support brand consistency, and use reporting, AI tools, and emerging technologies to help the organization understand what is working and improve efficiency and effectiveness.

    Qualifications

    • Required
      • 5–8 years of communications, marketing, public relations, or related nonprofit experience
      • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills
      • Experience managing multiple projects, timelines, and stakeholders simultaneously
      • Experience with email marketing platforms and digital communications tools
      • Strong understanding of digital marketing, content strategy, and audience engagement
      • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
      • Strong attention to detail and ability to move projects from planning through execution
    • Preferred
      • Nonprofit experience
      • Event marketing experience
      • Media relations or public relations experience
      • CRM experience such as Salesforce, Bloomerang, Raiser’s Edge, or similar platforms
      • Basic graphic design knowledge and comfort coordinating with creative vendors
      • Familiarity with Google Analytics, SEO, and website performance tracking
      • Demonstrated interest in public safety, community safety, civic education, global security issues, and the CELL’s mission
