    Description

    Consultant Opportunity – Parent Leadership & Special Education Advocacy

    SpEducational is seeking an independent programs consultant to support various projects pertaining to programming, fundraising, and community organizing starting in June 2026. This is a project-based contract engagement. The consultant will work independently to deliver specific outcomes for each project. Candidates must maintain their own independent consulting practice and may work with other clients concurrently.

    THE ENGAGEMENT

    We are seeking a detail-oriented independent consultant with demonstrated experience in nonprofit program coordination, workshop delivery, and community organizing. Bilingual (Spanish/English) and lived or professional experience with special education is a plus. The consultant will be engaged on a project basis, with scope and deliverables defined at the start of each contract term.

    PROJECT SCOPE & DELIVERABLES

    Primary Project Areas

    Project Management

    • Develop and maintain project workplans, timelines, and milestone trackers
    • Monitor project progress against defined deliverables
    • Coordinate across consultants, partners, and program leadership to ensure timely completion of project tasks
    • Maintain organized project documentation, files, and records
    • Prepare and submit periodic project status updates and deliverable summaries

    Session Coordination

    • Coordinate parent leader meetings, including securing interpreters, venue logistics (teleconference or in-person), and ensuring materials and technology are ready
    • Distribute session reminders, calendar invites, and follow-up communications to parent leaders
    • Track attendance and follow up with parent leaders who miss sessions
    • Document session notes and distribute to participants in a timely manner
    • Distribute meeting materials and resources to participants before and after each session
    • Maintain organized program files and records of parent leader participation and progress
    • Support management of the program communication platform (GroupMe, WhatsApp, or other agreed-upon platform), including posting announcements and facilitating group communications

    Materials & Content

    • Assist with preparation, assembly, and editing of program materials
    • Coordinate translation of materials into Spanish as needed
    • Ensure materials are organized and accessible to parent leaders
    • Prepare resource packets for parent leader distribution

    Secondary Project Areas

    Special Programming

    • Plan, prepare, and coordinate delivery of workshops, including logistics, materials, and communications
    • Coordinate with guest speakers and partner organizations for workshops and special sessions
    • Support community organizing initiatives that build parent leadership networks
    • Coordinate public forums and community events led by parent leaders
    • Gather data and documentation for program evaluation and grant reporting

    Additional Support Areas

    Communications & Digital Presence

    • Develop and organize content ideas for social media for program leadership review
    • Support digital organizing campaigns to elevate program visibility
    • Create program summaries, impact stories, and parent leader spotlights for communications
    • Support website updates related to the program

    Fundraising & Reporting Support

    • Research available grants and support grant writing and fundraising efforts by supplying requested data, documents, and program information
    • Collaborate with program leadership, data analysts, and other consultants to ensure alignment around project deliverables

    ENGAGEMENT DETAILS

    • Start date: June 2026
    • Contract term: To be defined per project scope
    • Hours: Approximately 10-20 hours per week, depending on project and project phase
    • Rate: $38-$45/hour, commensurate with experience
    • The consultant is responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and business expenses
    • This is not an employee position; no benefits are provided
