    Description

    China Digital Times (CDT) is seeking a fundraising consultant. CDT (chinadigitaltimes.net) is a bilingual non-profit media organization that brings marginalized and censored voices from China to the world.

    Reporting to the President, the fundraising consultant will participate actively in our fundraising strategy by developing and maintaining a portfolio of prospective individual and institutional supporters, managing communication with potential funders, and preparing grant proposals.

    The successful candidate will work remotely.

    Job responsibilities:

    • Work with the President and other CDT staff to expand and implement CDT’s fundraising strategy;
    • Research, identify, cultivate, and solicit commitments from prospective donors, including individuals, foundations, and other philanthropic entities;
    • Assist with grant writing and report writing;
    • Manage the production and logistics of fundraising, outreach, and cultivation events, including briefings and privately hosted dinners;
    • Manage communications with CDT funders;
    • Create and maintain a database of supporters and prospects;
    • Deliver output in a timely manner consistent with the agreed strategy and priorities of the organization;

    Qualifications:

    • Experience: At least three years fundraising experience with a proven track record of success. Specialization in the human rights field preferred.
    • Must be able to work well independently and as part of a small team.
    • Must be highly organized, willing to take initiative, and a creative thinker.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

    Salary and terms: This is a part-time consulting position for six months with the possibility for extension. We offer competitive compensation.

    Level of Language Proficiency

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
    • Fluency in Mandarin Chinese could be helpful but is not required.
