Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) seeks a creative and motivated Development Associate to join our team to provide programmatic support to CREW's fundraising team and senior leadership. This position is a unique opportunity to be on the front lines of the fight for a more ethical, equitable and accountable government, while working alongside smart, mission-driven and kind people.

The Development Associate will play a key role in assisting the Development team with donor management and communication. This position reports to CREW’s Development Director and will work closely with the Operations team including the President and CEO.
This position is included in a union-represented collective bargaining unit, and specific employment terms and conditions are subject to collective bargaining. The position is based in Washington, D.C. with hybrid work options potentially available.
Responsibilities:
- Providing executive support for senior leadership, including managing daily scheduling and calendars, and timely expense report submissions.
- Coordinating travel and logistics for work travel, including booking accommodations and transportation, and preparing itineraries.
- Managing the processing of donations through various platforms in a timely manner, and communicating results accordingly with the appropriate stakeholders.
- Maintaining the organization’s donor database (CRM), and exporting data for regular fundraising reports.
- Identifying opportunities to engage donors and allies in partnership with Development and Outreach teams.
- Answering or screening emails in the general inboxes, responding to or directing office voicemails.
- Managing confidential information with appropriate discretion.
- Tracking incoming development communications.
- Drafting donor outreach material, acknowledgement letters, and other correspondence.
- Managing state registration process and deadlines for all 50 states and DC, including tracking status and communicating with external stakeholders.
- Assisting in the planning and execution of CREW events as needed.
- Supporting the Vice President for External Affairs and Director of Operations with tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum two years professional experience, preferably in non-profit or campaign fundraising.
- Demonstrated experience with grant writing or other persuasive writing.
- Database management experience, including but not limited to systems like Raisers Edge, EveryAction and/or Salesforce.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with an ability to respond quickly to fluctuating priorities.
- Ability to provide warm and professional customer service to donors, prospects, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively and in partnership with staff across the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to self-motivate and maintain an internal organizational system.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and sound judgment, including maintaining the discretion of confidential donor data, and executive calendars.
Benefits
The salary range for this position is $55,000-$65,000 based on experience and qualifications.
