FRESHFARM builds a more equitable, vibrant, sustainable, and resilient food future for the region by producing innovative solutions in partnership with local communities and organizations in the DC area. We create food access, economic development, and community building through hands-on education, farmers markets, and distribution programs. The Food Access team administers the programs such as Produce Plus, FreshMatch, Free Summer Meals, Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP). These programs provide locally grown fruits and vegetables from farmers markets to residents with limited access to fresh, nutritious food.
WHO YOU ARE:
- Passionate about FRESHFARM mission and values and committed to supporting Food Access.
- Experienced leader, with at least 1 year previous supervisory experience (3+ years preferred).
- Clear communicator and strong project manager who can build positive, successful relationships with people from all walks of life.
- Plus, but not required: professional, volunteer, or other working experience at farmers markets, food access, or in agricultural fields.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
The Food Access Program Senior Manager will ensure that FRESHFARM's food access and incentive programming is efficient, equitable, and effective throughout the organization. This includes:
Healthy Food Access Program Implementation
- Supervise staff and manage and maintain systems to implement healthy food access programming with government and non-government partners
Healthy Food Access Partnership Management
- Create and foster relationships with mission-aligned partner organizations
Team Development and Supervision
- Hire, onboard, and supervise food access program support staff with support from HR
Food Access Program Data and Financial Management
- Oversee systems to ensure FF provides timely and accurate reimbursement of subsidies and incentives to partner farm retail outlets, in accordance with applicable funder requirements
Program Evaluation and Development Support
- Support the Director of Food Access and other FF leadership in pursuing new funding opportunities

THE DETAILS
- This is a full-time, 40 hours / week exempt position compensated at $72,100 - $87,550.
- This employee will be expected to work Mon.-Fri. during normal business hours:
- This role will require occasional weekend hours to support incentive program operations; in those cases, the Senior Manager may work with the Director to coordinate flex hours.
- This employee must be able to work at the FRESHFARM office and travel to all FRESHFARM markets and farm stands, as well as at partner markets and locations. Administrative work can be completed remotely with supervisor approval.
- All full-time employees receive 11 annual holidays (8 hours each), 3 floating holidays per year, and accrue up to 73 hours of sick leave and 80 hours of annual vacation leave (with increases after 3 and 6 years of service). This role will also be eligible for 12 weeks of paid parental leave, 2 weeks of prenatal leave (through DC paid family leave), and 10 days of bereavement leave (as needed)
- Typically, FRESHFARM offices close for a 1-2 week winter break, which includes paid time-off for salaried employees.

PHYSICAL & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to occasionally lift/move 30-40 lbs as needed.
- Must be able to occasionally work in an outdoor environment in all-weather conditions.
- Must be able to occasionally work on feet / without using a seat for up to 4 hours at a time
- Must have access to a personal cell phone; $25/month stipend provided for use.
- Must be vaccinated against COVID-19 (required to use FF office).
- Access to a vehicle is preferred in order to access a wide variety of work sites, some of which have limited access via public transportation, but not required.
- This role requires access to a laptop with 8GB RAM and webcam. FRESHFARM will provide a triennial stipend of $1,000 to maintain or to purchase such a personal device, if needed.
