    About the Opportunity

    Hadar seeks a detail-oriented and analytically skilled Financial Analyst to join our Operations team. Reporting to the Chief Operating and Financial Officer, the Financial Analyst will play a key role in supporting Hadar's financial health and operational excellence. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, developing and monitoring grant budgets, preparing financial reports, and providing analytical support for organizational decision-making. The Financial Analyst will work collaboratively across departments to ensure accurate financial data, timely reporting, and effective resource management in support of Hadar's 2024–2028 Strategic Plan.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Financial Analysis & Reporting

    • Assist the Chief Operating and Financial Officer in preparing and entering the annual organizational budget
    • Collaborate with department leaders to develop departmental budgets aligned with strategic priorities
    • Support the annual budgeting process by analyzing historical data, identifying trends, and developing projections
    • Prepare monthly financial reports for leadership, highlighting key metrics, trends, and variances
    • Conduct variance analysis comparing actual results to budget and forecast
    • Create financial dashboards and presentations for senior management
    • Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and special reports as requested
    • Track and analyze key performance indicators across programs and departments

    Grant Budget Development & Tracking

    • Develop grant-level budgets in collaboration with program staff, ensuring compliance with funder requirements and internal policies
    • Monitor grant spending throughout the grant period, tracking expenditures against approved budgets
    • Prepare mid-year budget modifications as needed to ensure effective grant spending and compliance
    • Serve as liaison with program teams regarding grant financial activity
    • Prepare grant financial reports for foundation and government funders
    • Reconcile grant expenditures and ensure proper allocation of costs across multiple funding sources
    • Support the Grants and Contracts team with financial analysis and reporting

    Accounting Operations Support

    • Partner with Hadar's accounting firm to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in Sage Intacct & BILL.com
    • Oversee accounts payable operations in BILL.com, including vendor onboarding, invoice review, and payment approvals
    • Manage accounts receivable activity in BILL.com, including invoicing, collections tracking, and reconciliation of incoming payments
    • Manage check deposits and track incoming revenue, serving as the primary liaison with the Development team to ensure accurate recording of foundation grants, donations, and other contributed income
    • Assist with month-end close processes
    • Assist with the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and accounting partners to prepare schedules and supporting documentation

    Cross-Organizational Collaboration

    • Work closely with the Programs team to provide financial guidance and support program planning
    • Collaborate with the Development team on revenue tracking and donor reporting
    • Partner with the Systems team to optimize financial systems and reporting tools
    • Communicate financial information effectively to colleagues across the organization

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting skills with the ability to communicate financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences. This role requires someone who is organized, proactive, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and integrity in financial operations.

    Experience

    • 3-5 years of experience in accounting or financial analysis, preferably in a nonprofit environment
    • Experience with grant accounting and fund accounting strongly preferred
    • Familiarity with nonprofit accounting principles, GAAP, and nonprofit financial regulations
    • Experience with Sage Intacct and Bill.com preferred (or similar accounting systems)

    Skills & Attributes

    • Alignment with Hadar's mission, values, and religious vision
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
    • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and financial modeling
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
    • Strong communication skills with ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance audiences
    • Collaborative team player with ability to work independently
    • Proactive problem-solver with ability to identify and resolve issues
    • Commitment to continuous improvement in financial processes and systems
    • Familiarity with Hebrew is a plus

    Compensation & Benefits

    Starting Salary Range: $70,000-$85,000
