    Description

    OVERVIEW:

    The People’s Budget LA is a Black Lives Matter Los Angeles - led coalition demanding the city invests in wellbeing of our communities with a priority on supporting Black people. Reporting to the Director, the Special Projects Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the People’s Budget LA campaign. They will support the BLMLA-led People’s Budget LA Team as well as perform other administrative and organizing functions. Collaboration with BLMLA and the People’s Budget LA leadership team, staff, contractors, vendors, partners, etc., and additional staff/support is essential. The coordinator will also forge and nurture relationships between BLMLA, People’s Budget LA, and aligned organizations and organizers. They will work to grow and develop the People’s Budget LA campaign and related initiatives through partnerships, social media, earned media, local events, and other innovations.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Keep track of administrative and logistical details for the People’s Budget LA campaign and coordinate related community events and presentations (e.g., track expenses, make copies, order food, equipment, and rentals; arrange technological support; coordinate event set-up/take-down, schedule building cleanings, organize and manage volunteer-based support team, ensure video/audio/photo documentation of campaign events; and perform other related duties)
    • Enlist local BLMLA members and partners to participate in the campaign and activities
    • Update/upkeep of People’s Budget LA website and social media posts in collaboration with the Web Designer and Communications team.
    • Order and distribute promotional materials
    • Develop Public Relations and Social Media Plans in collaboration with the

    People’s Budget LA Team.

    • Coordinate social media posts during People’s Budget campaign
    • Attend weekly calls with M4BL and local People’s Budget LA Team
    • Forge relationships and partnerships for BLMLA and People’s Budget LA

    This role will likely require an average of about 20 hours of work per week

    • Local travel (e.g., pick-up supplies, flyers, etc.)
