    Description

This posting is for an existing vacancy and is specifically for US based candidates. There is a separate posting for Canadian candidates.

    The Opportunity

Homelessness in Canada is not inevitable. The Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness (CAEH) exists to prove it, and this role sits as the leading edge of that evidence.

As Senior Improvement Advisor (Sr. IA), you’ll serve as the CAEH’s most advanced partitioner in applying the Model for Ending Homelessness. You’ll work with Canada’s most committed communities - those already reducing homelessness or actively on the path to get there - providing expert-level insights that pushes boundaries of what local systems can achieve.

This is not a back-office or support role. You will be front and centre with system leaders, driving measurable, sustained reductions in homelessness through sophisticated data analysis, quality improvement coaching, and systems change expertise.

Alongside the direct community work, you will help grow the entire Community Impact Team - mentoring Improvement Advisors, modelling expertise practice, and building a culture of continuous learning and improvement that scales CAEH’s impact nationally.

CAEH is an agile, mission-driven social enterprise. We fund our impact through fee-for-services (fractional coaching, consulting, training, data analytics products), which means the role contributes to revenue - leading complex consulting projects and identifying social enterprise opportunities alongside other teams. If you want a role where your expertise directly translates into measurable social impact with a mission driven organization we encourage you to apply.

    What You’ll Do

Expert Community Advisory - Model for Ending Homelessness

    • Serve as the CAEH’s most advanced practitioner, applying the full depth of CAEH’s Model for Ending Homelessness - including local system optimization, quality improvement methods, and by-name data analysis - to guide communities toward measurably reducing homelessness and sustaining it.
    • Lead fractional coaching and expert advisory to local system leaders on complex challenges such as local system design and operations, coalition-building, data quality, and data-driven decision making.
    • Maintain real-time awareness of each community’s progress, barriers, and system dynamics; develop tailored strategies to sustain and accelerate momentum.

    Team Capability Building

    • In close partnership with the Community Impact Lead, mentor Improvement Advisors, model advanced practices, and codify expertise into tools and resources.
    • Lead time-bound cross-functional project teams (aka pods) on complex consulting engagements, managing internal resourcing and delivery toward ambitious goals.
    • Partner with Data, Business Development, Public Affairs and Philanthropy teams to align Community Impact with organizational strategy and targets.

    Data-Driven Continuous Improvement

    • Use by-name data, local system performance indicators, and Quality Improvement methods to coach communities in developing and testing changes that drive measurable, month-over-month reductions in homelessness.
    • Help communities build the data quality and analytical confidence to make evidence-based decisions - strengthening local data systems as a core engine of progress.

    Integration with Social Enterprise Model

    • Contribute to the design and delivery of CAEH’s consulting, training, and advisory offerings - partnering with Training and Design and Business Development teams to identify emerging community needs and gaps while ensuring tools and curricula stay grounded in CAEH’s Model for Ending Homelessness and best practices.
    • Support proposal development and community scoping for high-commitment engagements, bringing expert input that strengthens both the quality of what we offer and CAEH’s ability and delivery it.
    • Represent CAEH as a visible subject matter expert at conferences and sector convenings, capturing insights and case studies from high-performing communities to fuel organizational thought leadership.

    What Success Looks Like

    • Communities achieve measurable, sustained reductions in homelessness month-over-month.
    • The Community Impact team grows depth and confidence; a learning and improvement culture takes hold.
    • Revenue targets are met.
    • Time-bound projects are done on time, on scope, and within budgeted hours.
    • CAEH’s reputation as Canada’s authority on ending homelessness strengthens.
    • Cultivate deep, trust-based client relationships that drive retention, engagements and partnership with CAEH.
    • Align delivery with CAEH’s strategic priorities and evolving operating model.

    What You Bring

We recognize that strong candidates may not meet every qualification listed below. If you are excited about the role and believe you could contribute meaningfully, we encourage you to apply.

We’re looking for someone who has:

    • 5 + years in social impact, systems transformation, and/or coaching leaders on system improvement - with a track record of measurable results in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
    • Expert level knowledge of By-Name Data, system optimization, continuous improvement methods, with the data literacy to drive decisions and influence change - not just report on them.
    • Advanced communicator - equally effective coaching senior system leaders, presenting at sector convenings and public events.
    • Comfort with systems and macro-level thinking.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects (including internal staff resourcing for those projects) in a fast-paced, virtual team environment toward ambitious timelines.
    • The ability to embrace change, risk, ambiguity, and uncertainty.
    • Receives and relays criticism constructively, comfortable managing conflict and disagreement to a productive conclusion.

It’d be great though not essential if you also had this experience:

    • Experience working in social enterprise, fee-for-service delivery model or start-up environment.
    • Hands on experience with Built for Zero Canada or a comparable structured homelessness reduction framework.
    • Knowledge of the Canadian housing and homelessness landscape.
    • Lived experience of homelessness, housing precarity and/or marginality is welcomed and valued.
    • Experience working from a diversity, equity, inclusion, decolonizing, and anti-oppression framework.
    • Bilingual, English and French, both oral and written.

    Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility

CAEH is committed to building an inclusive, equitable, and accessible workplace.

We strongly encourage applications from people with lived expertise of homelessness and from individuals who identify as Indigenous, Black, racialized, disabled, 2SLGBTQIA+, or members of historically marginalized communities.

We recognize that experience, leadership, and potential can take many forms. If your background does not align perfectly with every qualification, we still encourage you to apply.

Accommodation is available throughout the recruitment process upon request.
