    Description

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The CASAC is responsible for providing substance use disorder counseling services to

    individuals enrolled in the OASAS Part 822 Outpatient Program (OP and IOP). The CASAC

    delivers person-centered, trauma-informed services including screening, assessment, treatment

    planning, counseling, relapse prevention, and discharge planning in accordance with 14 NYCRR

    Part 822 regulations.

    The CASAC documents all services in compliance with OASAS, Medicaid, managed care, and

    42 CFR Part 2 requirements. Services may be delivered on-site and in the community as

    clinically indicated.

    POSITION DESCRIPTION:

    • Conduct pre-admission screenings and participate in the intake process
    • Complete comprehensive substance use assessments
    • Administer validated screening tools (AUDIT-C, DAST-10, etc.) as required
    • Participate in LOCADTR-informed level of care discussions (as applicable)
    • Develop person-centered Initial and Comprehensive Treatment Plans
    • Provide individual counseling services
    • Facilitate group counseling sessions (OP and IOP)
    • Provide relapse prevention counseling
    • Conduct crisis intervention as needed
    • Provide brief interventions (SBIRT model)
    • Coordinate referrals for medical, psychiatric, vocational, and social services
    • Collaborate with Healthcare Coordinator and Medical Director for MAT documentation
    • Document all services in AWARDS or agency EHR within required timeframes
    • Complete treatment plan reviews (30/60/90-day reviews as applicable)
    • Participate in case conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings
    • Conduct discharge planning and aftercare coordination
    • Provide overdose prevention education and naloxone documentation
    • Participate in quality assurance and utilization review processes
    • Attend supervision at least twice monthly
    • Attend required in-service trainings and staff meetings
    • Maintain caseload consistent with program capacity and regulatory standards
    • Other relevant duties as assigned

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • Current CASAC credential in good standing with OASAS (required)
    • CASAC-T not eligible for independent caseload unless supervised per regulation
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred; Associate’s degree or equivalent experience acceptable
    • Knowledge of 14 NYCRR Part 822 regulations
    • Knowledge of 42 CFR Part 2 and HIPAA confidentiality standards
    • Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders
    • Familiarity with co-occurring mental health conditions
    • Ability to provide trauma-informed and culturally responsive care
    • Strong documentation and EHR proficiency skills
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
    • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
    • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings as needed
