    Description

The Residency Program Manager is an essential part of Hedgebrook’s commitment to radical hospitality for emerging writers and women whose voices are changing conversations around the world. This position manages and implements the full cycle of Hedgebrook’s Writers-in-Residence program, along with the Mother Tree Residency program, retreats, fellowships, and other guests. The Residency Program Manager coordinates application and adjudication processes, manages scheduling and logistics for visiting writers, and coordinates with Hedgebrook’s hospitality team to ensure each writer is welcomed and provided the space for transformation.

While managing registration and logistics for the current year’s season, the Residency Program Manager simultaneously manages a six-month-long adjudication process to establish the following year’s residency program, while also overseeing and responding to several other smaller fellowship and paid stay programs. Multi-tasking, deep organization, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills are must-haves for this position. The successful candidate is a detail-oriented team player, who enjoys working behind the scenes to support writers, staff, volunteers and others in the Hedgebrook community.

The Residency Program Manager plays a key role in representing and connecting with the writers of Hedgebrook. Often, this position will be a writer’s first point of contact. Therefore, it is paramount that the Residency Program Manager model radical hospitality, cultivate meaningful relationships with writers and ensure operational excellence across all program touchpoints. Success metrics for this position include occupational accuracy and timeliness across logistics, scheduling and communications; and quality of the resident experience.
