    Description

    Romemu is seeking an Office Manager to work as an integral member of the team. In this role, the Office Manager will be supporting senior staff members as well as coordinating and assisting with logistics for shabbat, classes, campaigns, special programs and holidays ranging from intimate dinners and classes in the Rabbi’s home to large scale parties and holiday celebrations in collaboration with 92NY.

    Reporting to the Executive Director, they will play a key role in facilitating the day-to-day operations of the synagogue. Because of the front-facing nature of this position, the ideal candidate brings not only strong administrative and technical skills, but also a welcoming presence and a deep appreciation for hospitality and the value of care and community connection.

    Romemu is a Jewish spiritual community based on Manhattan’s Upper West Side with a growing national and international presence. Our unique community combines traditional Jewish scholarship and prayer with deep spirituality, expressed through music, mindfulness, and tikkun olam.     Requirements:

    • 40 hours per week; Flexibility in remote/office hours
    • Must be available to work some weekends and evenings as scheduled in advance

    Responsibilities:

    • Keeping internal Romemu Calendars up to date
    • Ordering food, supplies, hiring vendors such as caterers and photographers
    • Provide administrative support to Executive Director
    • Provide day-of support for select Shabbats, programs, classes, and holidays as needed
    • Cross-department operational coordination and project tracking, supporting membership and fundraising drives
    • Coordinating travel
    • Providing support for clergy members and teachers with formatting and printing class materials
    • Coordinating internal and external meetings
    • Managing Ad hoc organizational and operational tasks as needed, and continuously improving organizational operating procedures for efficacy and effectiveness

    Qualifications:

    • 2 years of professional experience
    • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
    • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to multitask effectively
    • Proficient in Google Suite/Microsoft Office or similar platforms
    • Able to quickly learn new apps and office productivity software
    • Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential matters
    • Familiarity with Jewish customs, holidays, and synagogue life preferred.
    • Ability to work well in a team setting, showing respect for all, emotional maturity, and a good sense of humor
