    About the Role

    Lloyd EcoDistrict is seeking its next Executive Director to lead a small, dynamic nonprofit working at the intersection of climate action, equity, and community development in Portland’s Lloyd neighborhood.

    This is a highly relational, hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a small organization, enjoys wearing many hats, and is energized by both strategy and action.

    Lloyd EcoDistrict is entering a thoughtful leadership transition. The current Executive Director will remain involved during the transition period to support continuity, relationships, and organizational stability. The Board of Directors and team are actively engaged in supporting this next chapter.

    Lloyd EcoDistrict works to make the Lloyd neighborhood a model for equitable, resilient, and sustainable urban development.

    We bring together residents, businesses, community-based organizations, public agencies, and institutions to co-create solutions that strengthen community connection, climate readiness, and inclusive prosperity.

    We are a certified EcoDistrict and Just Community, guided by a community-developed 2030 Roadmap focused on climate protection, resilience, and equity.

    We also acknowledge the historic displacement of Black communities in Lower Albina and aim to integrate restorative and equity-centered practices into our work.

    What You’ll Do

    Organizational and Strategic Leadership

    • Lead implementation of the 2030 Roadmap
    • Translate long-term vision into annual priorities
    • Balance strategic thinking with day-to-day execution

    Community and Partnership Development

    • Build and maintain strong relationships across the Lloyd neighborhood
    • Serve as a visible and active presence in the community
    • Represent Lloyd EcoDistrict publicly

    Fundraising and Financial Stewardship

    • Lead fundraising efforts, including grants and partnerships
    • Manage organizational budget and financial health
    • Support long-term financial sustainability

    Team Leadership and Operations

    • Collaborate with and support a small team
    • Foster a culture of trust, flexibility, and accountability
    • Oversee contracts, systems, and operations

    Board Partnership

    • Work closely with the Board of Directors
    • Support governance and strategic alignment
    • Provide regular updates and guidance

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Experience in nonprofit, community-based, or mission-driven work
    • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain partnerships
    • Strong communication and leadership skills
    • Experience with fundraising, grants, or financial management preferred
    • Comfort working in a small, evolving organization

    Compensation and Benefits

    Salary: $85,000–$95,000

    • 401(k) with employer match
    • Approximately 90% employer-covered health insurance
