    About ITP International

ITP International (ITPI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Corte Madera, California, incorporated in 2005. We steward Integral Transformative Practice® (ITP), an evidence-informed approach to long-term human development co-founded by George Leonard and Michael Murphy, with roots in decades of work at the Esalen Institute. ITPI supports practitioners worldwide through education, research, leadership training, and ongoing programs.

We are a small team, and we bring the same care to how we operate as we do to the practice itself.

    About the role

ITPI is seeking a bookkeeper to carry out day-to-day financial operations. The right person — or agency team — understands nonprofit finance, works independently with minimal supervision, maintains steady and reliable availability, and communicates proactively without being prompted.

We welcome proposals from both independent bookkeepers and bookkeeping agencies. For agencies, we are particularly interested in arrangements that include backup coverage if the primary contact is unavailable.

A transition and overlap period with the departing bookkeeper is expected and will be supported.

To help calibrate proposals: ITPI has four employees on payroll, processes approximately 75 transactions per month, maintains five active restricted funds, and holds quarterly board meetings.

    Core responsibilities

    • Participate in an initial onboarding review of existing processes and systems, and flag any concerns or suggested improvements to leadership
    • Process accounts payable and receivable — invoices, payments, and reconciliation
    • Execute payroll operations
    • Support workers’ comp audit compliance
    • Assist with sales tax filings and 1099 preparation
    • Maintain accurate, organized books in QuickBooks
    • Deliver a clean monthly close by an agreed-upon date
    • Produce monthly cashflow reports
    • Prepare a standard quarterly financial report package for board meetings
    • Prepare ad hoc financial reports for organizational oversight as requested
    • Surface discrepancies, cash flow concerns, or upcoming compliance deadlines proactively — without being asked

    Requirements

    • Demonstrated experience managing books in QuickBooks for a nonprofit, including payroll and reconciliation
    • Comfort with cloud-based financial tools; QuickBooks Online proficiency required
    • Track restricted and unrestricted funds in accordance with grant requirements and donor designations
    • Familiarity with nonprofit financial reporting for boards
    • Works independently — does not require close supervision
    • Steady, reliable availability — responsive and consistent month to month
    • Clear, proactive communication — provides regular updates without prompting
    • Experience working with nonprofit clients
    • References required, including at least one nonprofit
    • Availability for client conversations during US Pacific timezone business hours
    • Courteous, efficient, and professional communication skills

    Preferred

    • Experience with California nonprofit compliance
