BALLROOM BASIX USA, Inc.(BBX) is a New York City based arts nonprofit seeking a purpose-driven, detail-oriented Development Coordinator. This is a growth‑track role with the opportunity to advance to Development Manager, depending on performance outcomes. We are committed to providing mentorship and hands-on experience to help achieve collective strategic goals.
The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of development experience and is motivated to expand their expertise across the full spectrum of fundraising functions to support our transformative mission that brings our “fun, fitness & fancy footwork” of non-competitive Ballroom & Latin partner dancing to schoolchildren and seniors across all 5 boroughs of New York City.
The Development Coordinator will collaborate with the Executive/Artistic Director and a dedicated leadership team including a Media/Marketing Manager, Operations Manager, Program Manager, Outreach Manager, as well as support staff and interns. The work will include organizing fundraising campaigns, leading donor cultivation and stewardship efforts, analyzing and updating our donor database and routine grant research.
The Development Coordinator will thrive on building authentic relationships and can confidentially engage with stakeholders at every level—from our dedicated volunteers to prospective donors to corporate partners. This person enjoys staying engaged by handling multiple projects simultaneously, often with other team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and build upon on our current Bonterra/CRM donor database
- Develop and implement best practices for donor engagement, stewardship and retention
- Engage with our current donors and develop relationships with prospective donors and participate in philanthropic goal-setting
- Coordinate with the Executive Director and BBX Team on the planning and implementation of annual fundraising campaigns & events
- Analyze fundraising and donor data to create monthly reports for BBX leadership
- Collaborate with staff, volunteers and board members to identify and secure additional funding opportunities
- Participating in BBX brainstorming sessions
- Plan and implement short and long term development initiatives in alignment with the BALLROOM BASIX’s strategic plan
- Collaborate with media/marketing team to create compelling messaging and content for fundraising campaigns and public-facing communications
- Help foster a positive, respectful and inclusive organizational culture/environment
- Collaborate on the research, writing and submission of grant proposals & applications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree, or an Associate’s Degree with additional nonprofit experience
- 1-2 years of nonprofit development/fundraising experience preferred; with an understanding of development and non-profit sectors
- Proficiency in Google Workspace; experience with CRM
- Detail-oriented with a strong skill set that includes problem solving and organization & project management.
- Ability to work independently within a small, dynamic and collaborative team environment
- Dynamic interpersonal skills; an ability to interact with a range of people from executive leadership, to donors, to assistants & volunteers
