Position Overview

UPF is seeking a Senior Major Gifts Officer to lead and grow its fundraising and donor development efforts, with a focus on major gifts, donor cultivation, and philanthropic engagement within American Muslim communities.

This role is ideal for an experienced nonprofit fundraising professional with a strong background in major gifts fundraising, donor relationships, and revenue generation, who can independently drive results while collaborating with leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Major Gifts Fundraising & Strategy

• Develop and implement a major gifts fundraising strategy targeting individual donors and philanthropic networks
• Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, steward, and renew major donor prospects, focusing on a portfolio of 100–150 individuals capable of giving $5,000– $50,000 over multiple years, and build and manage a robust donor pipeline

Donor Development & Stewardship

• Cultivate long-term relationships with major donors, prospects, and philanthropic partners
• Conduct donor meetings, presentations, and fundraising appeals
• Lead and support donor cultivation events, briefings, and community engagement activities

Collaboration & Reporting

• Collaborate with executive leadership on fundraising strategy, messaging, and donor communications
• Track and report on fundraising performance, donor engagement, and pipeline activity
• Maintain accurate donor records using CRM systems and ensure strong stewardship practices

Qualifications

Required

• Demonstrated success raising at least $500,000 annually, or comparable experience managing major donor portfolios and securing significant gifts
• 5+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, major gifts, or development roles
• Strong network within Muslim communities and/or experience in faith-based or community-based fundraising
• Willingness to travel frequently, including weekends, to support donor cultivation, events, and fundraising efforts
• Proven ability to develop, solicit, and close major gifts
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills

Preferred

• Experience in media, education, or nonprofit organizations
• Experience planning and executing fundraising events or donor engagement campaigns
• Familiarity with donor CRM systems (e.g. Donor Perfect or similar)

Compensation & Benefits

UPF offers a competitive nonprofit compensation package:

• Annual salary: $90,000 – $140,000, depending on experience
